*Official* English Football Season 2011-12

Yeah, I note he's suggested they need to "stop playing lovely football" if they're to grind out results. He's also said he thinks 4th place is also achievable this season. What a berk.
Scottish Manager League

1. Alex Ferguson - Manchester United (2nd)
2. Kenny Dalglish - Liverpool (7th)
3. David Moyes - Everton (9th)
4. Paul Lambert - Norwich (11th)
5. Alex McLeish - Aston Villa (15th)
6. Steve Kean - Blackburn Rovers (16th)
7. Owen Coyle - Bolton Wanderers (17th)

Can't see Aston Villa overhauling Liverpool so 4th place, whilst disappointing, would certainly be achievable.

Also worth noting that Andy Carroll cost Liverpool £35m from Newcastle.

Meanwhile, Newcastle have managed to sign Tim Krul, Fabricio Coloccini, David Santon, Marveaux, Chiek Tioté, Yohanne Cabaye, Hatem Ben Arfa, Demba Ba and Papiss Cisse for £34m.

Kenny just can't deal with the media whatsoever. Bordering on embarrassing now.

EDIT: ^ Never realised that we overpayed for Carroll and Newcastle got some decent bargains. Cheers for informing me, GF.

Shame Wolves sacked Mick, as otherwise there would be as many English managers as there are managers called Roberto (yes I know Mick is a token Mick, so to speak)

Whilst this obviously reflects very poorly on Liverpool, I wasn't aware that Newcastle had been able to get hold of all these players for under £35m. Really shrewd spending. Shows the benefits of good scouting and sensible purchasing I suppose.

It's just such a comical error that it's hard to stop bringing it up. It must surely be the worst ever signing in England? I think I argued that Torres was worse earlier this season, but it's close.

Regardless of how badly Torres has flopped, paying £50m for a proven international class striker was far smarter business than spending £35m on a guy who couldn't score 20 goals in the Championship the season before.

Of course, all transfers are judged based on what the player has done, and Torres has arguably been a worse buy than Carroll, but Chelsea's thinking was far more sensible than Liverpool's last January.

Definitely think Carroll is the worst transfer ever, ITBT.

Think Torres will start firing, one day.

It's weird - for all the talk (from me as much as anyone) of this not being a particularly outstanding United side, particularly after the double European debacle, so far this is statistically one of the club's best ever League seasons. That's 73 points now from 30 games - only once in the club's history has United had more points after 30 games, and that holds true even after converting all the old seasons into three points for a win.

Was always likely to be a fairly temporary appointment in Any case, been having a horrible season. AVB been linked with the job for a while apparently, would be walking into another very difficult job. Inter got an ageing side and unlike Chelsea not a lot of money.

How much of that is down to the league being a bit rubbish this season?

In what way?
In that no one apart from City in the first half of the season has really convinced, it's been entertaining for sure but not been the highest quality year, probably marginally better than last season though.

Rest of the teams being poo=more points for non-poo teams. I reckon most of the top sides would be beaten quite convincingly if you could magic up their teams from 5 years ago for a game (although this would be slightly unfair to Chelsea, as it would just be the same players but 5 years younger.)

Manchester United definitely aren't as good as they were 4-5 years ago, and even last year they struggled with picking up points away from Old Trafford, something they haven't really done this season.

I get what you're saying but this last part here reads badly. Had to read it a couple times to make sure. Meh.
