**Official** Asia Cup 2012

India's attack in the World Cup was not laughable. Yuvraj was the fifth bowler, he was one of the tournament top wicket takers. Munaf bowled to the level of a top quality medium-fast bowler, Zaheer was excellent, Nehra had moments and was generally an adequate bowler. Harbhajan was below par but is still a good bowler.
So Yuraj was your fifth bowler yet the attach wasn't laughable

so? many teams don't have a proper 5th bowler. Not having a regular 5th bowler doesn't make your attack laughable.

I think even the WI and Aus of the dominant eras didn't have a proper 5th bowler (cbf checking it)

Australia and WI had Mcgrath, Gillespie Marshall, Holding etc as their attacking bowlers India had Zaheer Khan and Munaf Patel. Yuvraj and Zaheer bowled Really well in World Cup, and played crucial part in the India's victory but that doesn't mean Indian attack isn't laughable.

It might be laughable but not as bad as AFGHANISTAN :P

The WC happened about a year ago remember? Broad was considered to be a hack, Yuvraj hadn't been diagnosed with cancer, Philander hadn't played a test, Pattinson/Cummins were not in the international scene etc. You people are judging players involved in that WC based on current form. So much has changed since then. The increase in standard in bowling all over the world since then has just made India's bowling look much worse in comparison.

For India:
  • Rahul Sharma for finals? Makes much more sense than bowling Yusuf, Jadeja or part-timers on this flat wicket.
  • India need the pitch to be bowler-friendly enough to make their own batsmen sweat- they can handle unhelpful pitches far better than their bowler counterparts.
  • The boundary ropes are in too much. This, and the hard outfield, encourage mediocre strokeplay and easy boundaries.
  • Was Pakistan sleepwalking? They did nothing to challenge the Indians, since they knew they were an inch into the finals anyway. Maybe we'll see a different Pakistan in the final game.

Just looking at the wicket the matches are being played on it doesn't matter who's bowling. So you might as well stack up your batting with Pathan and go with his spinners because Rahul Sharma probably won't do any better in these conditions. He can make a case in place of one of our "fast" bowlers though for sure

Virat Kohli (c)
Yeah playing the extra bowler on these wickets is fairly useless considering the names we have available.

btw why haven't Pakistan brought Abdur Rehman for the Asia cup?

He is a good bowler for controlling runs. Quite accurate as well.

until Ajmal get something out of the pitch I see no one else stopping Kohli in this mood hoping for another BD upset tommorow so we can avoid Kohli for the final.

Ah,the melodrama :D . Kohli is in fine form, but that does not mean he will own us in the final.Misbah, for all his shortcomings in the last match,is not dumb.We will do our homework this time around, and Kohli will be restricted.Wahab will most certainly make way for an extra batsman in the next game.A bowling attack of Gul,Hafeez,Cheema,Ajmal and Afridi with Hammad Azam as the 6th bowler will be fine for the next match.

We need someone who bowls very tight, otherwise his deliveries will be dispatched to the boundary, as was the case with Gul, Keema and Riaz. I wish we had Sadaf.

We also need Afridi back in form. His bowling has been a big factor everytime we have done well in ODIs offlate.Afridi being off colour is a massive loss.

we need Afridi in form for the batting too

I too think that Afridi is a good captain for LO format

Misbah is good for test matches

The problem is that Misbah in LOI is too cool. His brain freezes and he stops thinking. Also he doesn't inspire the boys like Afridi does. The energy seems to be missing.

In test matches though Misbah can play his own game as he wants to and at the same time calm down the team since there is a lot of time
