The only way it would have been not out would have been if it was a no ball. If it was close then the ump would have referred it.

Using Referrals just because you have one is silly. It was hitting middle and leg 3/4 of the way up.

Pointless.
Unlikely yes, but you never know for sure. If you've got it then use it.

Not surprising, this team has two competent batsmen, both of whom have no brains, to quote geoff boycott. Until we get Ryder and Brownlie back we can't afford to carry 4 seamers.
Nah, we shouldn't sacrifice a strength to make up for the incompetence of the top order.

With three seamers and another batsman who won't do anything, we will still lose.

With less hacks and more people who can play cricket i.e. our bowlers, we will at least pull the oppositions pants down before losing.

Disagree, we all know that most umpires don't watch no-balls half the time anyway, therefore a referral at the fall of the 10th wicket is a must, even if the odds are less than 1%.

Southee should look at Bracewell's action. His release is a touch wobbly, but he still swings it because his arm comes over it right over the top, wrist behind the ball.

Nah, four bowlers are pointless as long as you have a batting lineup that will never score enough runs to give them a chance. And I utterly refuse to acknowledge Brent Arnel as a strength.

Marto!

Such a soft dismissal for Smith, he'll be kicking himself. Had a golden chance of hundreds in consecutive innings there. Pitch looks flat now.

You're both right - we should only field players who are going to make meaningful contributions to the side. Might have to ask the ICC for a dispensation to play 8-a-side and open with a carrot and a piece of cheese though

That's a great grab from the pocket rocket.

I thought his keeping was the reason he hadn't been looked at before now? Looks pretty solid to me.

Meanwhile: nightwatchman with ten overs left? Hmm. Lack of testicular fortitude from #3.

It's fair to say that Arnel has done more to deserve his place in the side than Nicol or most other batsmen.

I hate night watchmen so much. Such a ridiculous concept, completely devoid of any logic whatsoever.
