Bracewell so far in his batting career seems to be just good enough to edge the ball and not quite good enough to score any runs. Looks vaguely like a proper batsman rather than an unconventional slogger like some tail-enders and that probably makes him easier to bowl to.

With batting average of 7 and five single-digit scores out of eight dismissals it is making it really hard to justify four fast bowlers with Bracewell batting at 8. Even though I'm a big fan of four seamers.

Then again, would Franklin coming in at 8 in this situation have inspired much more confidence?

As soon as we find two real openers the lower order batting will become far less relevant.

I don't want to go back to putting the ambulance at the bottom of the cliff again.

Williamson - needs to HTFU against deliveries of that sort - it was either too early in his inning or he didn't play the delivery with enough grit between his teeth - or a combination of all of the above. I will grant him it was a good ball - but good players keep those out.

Watling has not miraculously managed to become the answer to our opening problem - don't you remember him in Zimbabwe?

Not surprising, this team has two competent batsmen, both of whom have no brains, to quote geoff boycott. Until we get Ryder and Brownlie back we can't afford to carry 4 seamers.

Eh, might as well. Somehow doubt this test is going to go down to a matter five minutes of extra time.
The only way it would have been not out would have been if it was a no ball. If it was close then the ump would have referred it.

Using Referrals just because you have one is silly. It was hitting middle and leg 3/4 of the way up.

Pointless.
