Australian Domestic Season 2011-12

Not that its nothing new now but three FC games starting on the same day and all three sides batting first getting rolled over for sub-standard totals is not a great advert for Shield cricket or the kind of conditions its being played in.

Its basically taking the batsmen and spinners out of the equation and making it a contest between the fast bowling attacks of the two sides which in no way is helping Australian cricket.

You're in India, aren't you mate?

It's ****ting down over three quarters of the country here, or has been most of the week. In fact, most of the summer.

It makes for conditions conducive to fast bowling. Two years ago every **** was bitching about there being too many flat pitches.

i think the fact we have ****ty spinners and ****ty batsmen isn't helping either
Spinners and batsmen would only look as good as the conditions they are playing in allow them to, on a green or damp track one just can't expect batsmen to score a lot of runs or the spinners to have any impact and that's what's happening in Shield cricket atm, so its pretty unfair to bag these batsmen or spinners when the dice is clearly loaded against them.

On a side note isn't Sheridan supposed to be a batsman who bowls a bit, if so its pretty surprising to see the number of wickets he has taken in the last few innings.

Rain might be a factor but this has been going on for the last two-three seasons now and also can't understand why flat pitches at the domestic level should be a problem because that's what they are eventually going to get at the international level as well.

Runs are there to be made if the batsman apply themselves. NSW and SA have no chance of making the finals as both teams have performed poorly throughout the year so no real surprise that they couldn't bat out a day. WA would be disappointed, but Tassie at home are excellent.

If you look at the leading runscorers for the year, their stats are still very good. It's just that every team is carrying a few (or more) batsman who have had complete shockers.

often because they don't want to drop their young, under-performing, PONI. Funnily enough pup11 doesn't like it when states drop their young, under-performing, PONI

i just like repeating all these conflicting statements

UNDERPERFORMING PONI HONOURBOARD

(S. Marsh, Usman, Hughes, North etc overlooked, M. Marsh with the bat only, of course)

i was iffy but I wanted to bring in someone from Tassie and while Paine hasn't scored a single run this season I thought it'd be harsh on Paine to pick him. Meanwhile after last season's killer season there was the usual "**** da weight if he's scoring runs whatever" talk. If Cosgrove had scored some runs this season, with a new selection panel in place, who knows. So I'm happy.

Not sure how exactly that's a problem, all these blokes are young and talented and have done well for their sides in the past, the whole point of having a domestic structure is to have a system that constantly produces good players for the national side.

If we start dropping these players of national interest everytime they are out of form for just some grade cricketer then it would basically compromise the very reason for having a domestic FC structure, its only when players similar to Lalor, Adcock or Doran play FC cricket that one should feel really angry because such players add no value at all to the FC system.
