Jeseus christ Smith has looked like **** in the nets the last two days, honestly if we cant get this guy out we've got no chance.

Well how plumb did that turn out to be, middle half way up, looked very close and proved to be, just seemed to move a little into him.

Got 'em!

Obviously Toull is on auto-"he's hit that" mode when the umpire doesn't give one that's pretty close.

Boult to Petersen, OUT, Petersen gets behind the line and defends on the leg side, Boult runs to his right and fields

Ahh cricinfo, whatever the match the quality of the text commentary remains the same.

Boult to Amla, no run, a huge yell for lbw but Aleem Dar says not out. Ross Taylor has asked for a review. The ball was full and pitched in line, Petersen moved his front foot across and tried to drive on the leg side, he missed and got hit pretty low on the front pad. Doesn't look like an inside edge either, nothing on replays. That's hitting the middle of middle. Aleem Dar changes his not-out decision. Boult's broken through.

Whilst I don't wish to defend that Toull (I love that name - may I borrow it?), most commentators have that default setting. As I am able to be open minded, I reckon he thought it pitched outside given the angle/no swing.

Yes you can borrow it.

I agree, but it erks me how they say "he's hit that" like it's definite. I'd rather they actually went through some of the reasons why it could have been not out instead of trying to guess it and look good if right. "He may have either hit that or it may have pitched outside of leg" would be a much better auto-response to such an appeal.

But I suppose you can't ask for too much when it comes to Toully.

Couldn't possibly agree more. And as the commentators are literally right behind the arm as that was delivered, they should be able to do better.
