The Ponting scenario brings to mind a quote from David Hookes

He said he didn't want to go out on a low note, now it appears it doesn't want to go out on high one either. So it will be the selector's decision.

I don't think the Punter has a clear idea of what to do, he is just hoping it will be obvious at the time.

Please explain to me why people keep pushing Khawaja? What has this guy done. Oh he looks good and sooo stylish. Steve Waugh was not stylish but had ticker. This guy has shown he cant bust eggs. Yes Ponting and Hussey should go but replace them with Form Players - Tom Cooper, Liam Davis, Mitch Marsh, Chris Lynn. And please stop pushing Starc. With Cummins, Pattison, Cutting, Faulkner, along with Siddle and Hilfinhaus, who needs this blamonge chucker.

Will Ponting play ODIs if selectors select him for the side in future. He didnt explicitly state that he is retiring, just that he doesnt get expect to get selected.
