So basically Ponting has given up his personal time to hold a conference, for the benefit of the media, and this ****wit asks why he's done so?
Precisely.

The reporter is plainly auditioning for a role in the Canberra Press Gallery.

It should be 'coming off' btw. Not 'coming of from a good OD series against Sri Lanka.'

International Coach
thinking back, considering the silverware and the captaincy, not to mention the runs & fielding, and the longevity - surely is one of the very best ODI players.

I can still see a slim chance of him scoring heaps of runs and getting back into the team again.

Tbf you have to perform to stay in the Australian team. As we've seen with Jono, you don't have perform to stay on cricketweb

How good was Viv's fielding? Because if you take Ponting's fielding into account there's a strong case for him to have been the best ODI player ever. He's certainly up there in the top three fielders of his generation and the top two batsmen (I'd go as far as saying the best batsman personally, but I know Tendulkar fans would disagree).
