No you'd be picking another opener when you've already got 3 in the squad.

What your suggesting is dropping players who've batted reasonably well.

Did you take lessons in selection from. Illingworth?

wasn't looking at this thread earlier, didn't realise sparkeh won the race.

I think the selectors were kinda doing their best to drop mussey too, but he keeps getting runs. haw-haw.

Does seem kinda rude to ask the guy to skipper again, then drop him after a win, form aside. At least it's for Watson, not Bailey. What happens when Watson flops a few times?

If Watson flops with the bat, he'll take wickets :)

Is tendulkie due to be rested next match, and is there a betting market somewhere for his 100 if he is playing?

are you suggesting Sachin hates Ponting so much that he refused to score his 100th 100 in a match Ponting was playing in

I believe he has a list of players for this, which includes, though is not limited to, Ponting, KP and Dilhara Fernando.

Yeah well an ODD career average of 26 which has been as low as 21 this season with a strike rate in the 60' should put enough 'light' on the matter.
I can dig this if you want to drop Warner as well, but you don't, which just makes you inconsistent at best, horrendously biased at worse.

Warner has a FC average of over 50 he's a monster of a T20 player now if that would have been the case with Forrest than I would have had no problem with him being picked at this level on the basis of his potential.

Warner has very, very poor one day credentials; he's being picked on potential as well.

Forrest is being picked to get a look at how he handles international bowlers ahead of the West Indies tour because he's in the frame for a Test spot; no other reason.

David Warner = one opening batsman but who is the other? I think it should be Mathew Wade. But which way will it be? I think Lanka have been good and looking for good a victory.

So I think Lanka should win this but, don't go by me now.

I'd actually drop Warner from the one day side tbh.

From the squad selected:

1. Watson
2. Wade
3. Forrest
4. Clarke
5. Hussey
6. Hussey
7. Christian
8. Lee
9. Harris
10. Doherty
11. Hilfenhaus

It's going to be hard with Warner though because while it's obvious he's not very good at one day cricket yet, and while it's obvious that despite that he has the potential to be a very good one day player, he'll be playing for Australia for most of each summer with Test and T20 commitments. If he's left out of the ODI side there's no guarantee that it'll line up with Ryobi Cup chances, so he might not get to play much one day cricket at all. That would just exaggerate his boundary reliance. It's for that reason I can handle him being in the ODI side; he can't improve his one day cricket domestically as he won't be playing domestically.

Let's see I don't think Clarke would drop Warner. But wow eight bowlers you've selected. Eight players that can bowl. Wade is a good wicketkeeper. Lee, Hilfenhaus and Harris the three seamers look to be the ones which could steer Australia to victory. Much to heavily bowling wise imo this team. With Watson also there. I think I would open with David Hussey instead of Warner. And maybe with Watson.

Warner won't be dropped. I wasn't making a prediction.

I've picked four specialist bowlers, and Watson. I've picked the rest of the players on the strength of their batting alone (bar Wade). There's no-one more qualified to come in at #7 as a specialist hitter than Christian whether he can bowl or not - and he wouldn't bowl much in my side.

Warner has got the skills and he has proved himself at the T20 and test level and its only a matter of time before he does that at the OD level as well, someone like Forrest on the other hand has been around for almost half a decade and only this season he has put some decent numbers at the FC level and straight away he is being groomed for higher honours which is pretty odd.
