He's a handy bowler who could end up being a good No.8. The all rounder talk was always bull**** I reckon. At FC level at least. Can do a job swinging in the short forms. But I just can't see him being a top 6 bat in Tests which is what some of the fan bois are pushing.

I still reckon there's a lot more to work with there with the bat than the ball, even though he hasn't performed that way so far. A bit of Dan Christian randomness going on IMO.

He's 20 ftr, bit early to write him off to be honest.

Perfect time to hype him to the extreme too (see above post).

Yeah what is going on with him? He is still a good bowler, but the poor bloke can't even buy a wicket atm.

Hate to say it because I love me some Copes, but perhaps the "really seamer friendly wickets when he came into Shield cricket inflated his comparative worth to other bowlers around the country" theory is being proven true a bit. I mean he's obviously a better bowler than his season figures would suggest but perhaps he wasn't quite as good as his figures in his first season and a bit suggested and it's evening itself out a bit.

I agree, can see the ball well obviously just needs to develop a technique and learn some patience.

Still enough to work with that ball too. Tall and quick enough just needs to move it around on a good length and he'll be gun.

One of the strangest Shield games ever. McDermott is turning into such a good bowler. No longer a prospect. Looking the real deal this season with a yard extra pace.
