Yeah, who'd have thought a bloke with 300 Test wickets would know more about knocking over Test batters than a bloke who couldn't even command a regular spot with Tassie?
The amazing thing was that it was apparently necessary to tell these blokes it's a good idea to pitch it up and try to hit the top of off...you could possibly understand it if they had alternative plans which required bowling short and mixing that up with periods of absolute rubbish.

I was reading Adam Gilchrist's biography and he said Glenn McGrath's input at their team meetings about where to bowl to certain guys was always 'top of off'. It really is that simple. Especially if you have the tools to get you to Test level in the first place. Whatever McDermott has done though, I like the change.

Hunting for swing is new too, Siddle until the last year or so was basically about hitting the deck and that was it. In fairness, it's not popular at Shield level.

I've got a funny image in my head now.

Lyon five fer on debut in SL tbf. Proven track record on the subcontinent. Therefore Lyon wins
Lyon also doesn't have the advantage of bowling to the Australian team, where he'd probably take 8/5 as they collapsed to be all out for 12.

Swann took 2 wickets in his first over of Test cricket (in India, no less) and averages 28 to Lyon's 36 in Asia. So we're back onto Swann.

Bringing in Watto for Marsh will make me very happy with the makeup of this Aussie team, particularly once we get Pattinson/Cummins back from injury.

What an outstanding success DRS has been in this series, not one complaint about the umpiring from the Indians.

By having the BCCI refusing to use DRS saves the host country money from using the system and prevents the BCCI from complaining about the umpiring, total win win.
