Can they do that? I thought he said if he could take the runs back he would. he should give two extra to Tendulkar if the latter makes 98.

If they can start taking things back, I'd like a refund for Marsh's selection please.
No idea mate, but if a team can call a batsman back after being given out (see Sri Lanka to Australia ODI 2004) I can't imagine why they can't take 2 runs off their score.

No, Broad had long periods of retardation as well tbf. People were saying he should be dropped. Then he pitched it up.
Broad's period of retardation lasted 1 series; for 2 years he'd been a very servicable bowler who'd occasionally bowl an inspired match-winning spell. The reason I was calling for his dropping was because he had a dreadful series against Sri Lanka and we had capable replacements in Bresnan and Tremlett.

I'd actually agree with logic entirely 99% of the time; I think we are cricket fans over-react to results at times in terms of demanding "accountability" and selection changes. That you lost doesn't mean you didn't have the best eleven out on the park, or didn't prepare properly, or didn't play to your potential, or any of the other excuses that are usually trotted out. Sometimes the opposition just plays better.

Here, though.. India haven't just lost; they've been smashed. They've been terrible in general and they should be embarrassed by it. Such a comprehensive series loss by a supposedly good side cannot just be put down to the opposition outplaying you.

I agree. India's bowlers aren't carrying a mental block - save for Zaheer they're just not very good.

So he was realtively ******** then. My mistake.

Yeah they have penalty runs, it would be good if Clarke agreed with Sehwag to take the runs off. Be a good gesture I think.

Hasn't happened yet though, or no one's told the scorers (which is the same thing) - he's still on 140*.

No one is going to publicly come out and say "we are ****", it accomplishes nothing.
I think he pretty much did exactly that though. These performances have been unacceptable because India are better than this. By just putting it down to the opposition playing better (which is actually the reason for a lot more results than people will admit IMO) it's pretty much saying that India have been playing to the best of their ability and that they aren't good enough to even compete - which is rubbish IMO.

It's an absolutely stupid concept anyway. People aren't obliged to come on cricket forums when they don't feel like it ffs. I doubt that anyone actually thinks "well I really don't want to post on CW right now because my team copped a hammering but I better go and do it anyway because it's the right thing to do; time to face the music instead of doing something else I enjoy." It would be stupid if they did.

People come here to post when they have free time and they feel like discussing cricket. If they don't have free time or they don't feel like discussing cricket then they won't post - and yeah, I guess your team copping a belting might make you less in the mood to discuss cricket online, but so what? It'd make you a bad/fairweather fan if you actually stopped supporting your team, stopped caring, stopped watching etc, but posting on forums isn't a key part of being a fan, and if people only enjoy posting here when their team is winning well good for them.
I think this could be the greatest post ever.

Then what is uvelocity saying India are in denial about? They're in denial that they are **** when actually they are better and not playing as well as they should? Confusing...

Denial that their performances have been unacceptable. So yeah, pretty much, in a way.
