Samba would be a great signing for QPR.

I think Hughes will be a decent capture for QPR, but at the same time if there really is £15m lying around to be spent, I doubt he'll do a lot better than Warnock would have done.

Strange move for him though, seeing as he left Fulham because they weren't ambitious enough for him, this would seem like a bit of a backwards step.

Indeed, a quality centre back should be their first priority imo.

QPR are ridiculously ambitious though. Correct or not, relegation is not even talked about, and the assumption is that they'll be a Top Eight side in no time. Plus they have the money to do it.

I guess Hughes is on board with the dream.

EDIT: How did Hughes go with the big personalities at City? There's obviously a few at QPR.

Haha, well I don't know about that, as if Warnock is to be believed his objective for the first half of the season was to stay out of the relegation zone. And in all seriousness if their objectives for this season were any more than that then it'd be incredibly foolish.

But yeah, I imagine you're right. I can't believe Hughes would have come on board if they hadn't filled his head with promises of grandeur. Will be interesting to see how they go in the next few weeks, and indeed which players they are able to bring in. If they can't get at least 3 decent players in I should think they'll be relegated.

But I think that's mainly why Warnock has been outed. He doesn't fit in with Fernandes and co's view of the club - Warnock is trying to avoid relegation while the higher-ups believe they should be looking at higher honours.

Am still confident of QPR's survival, and maybe mid-table finish. Looking forward to see who they pick up in the next 20 days. And hopefully no-one (TAARABTZORS) leaves, either. Faurlin's injury a big blow though. :(

EDIT: Kompany's appeal rejected, out for a month.

Yeah, I think it was obvious that Warnock was going to be booted sooner or later for that very reason. Like you say, he obviously does not fit in with the long term ambitions of the owners, and I don't think anyone really believed he would be the man to take the club forward.

Having said that, Hughes isn't exactly a glamorous choice either. But then again, not a bad one for getting a club established in the top flight.

Colin's take on his sacking from The Independent.

He breaks the habit of a lifetime and doesn't take it on the chin, rather blaming the new owner's inexperience of footballing matters:

Colin said:
I do feel if there were more people at the club in positions of power with experience in the game they would have understood how well we have done in the circumstances, and they would've realised that once we brought in the players I had identified there would have been no problem securing a Premier League future.

GIMH

Norwood's on Fire
The future bit is conjecture but I do basically agree with what he says about doing well in the circumstances

Hmm. Ish.

Swansea & the Canaries having such good seasons is probably a bad look for him, plus one win in nine (I think) and you can see why the new owner got an itchy trigger finger.

Was a little thing in the Guardian about Warnock's lack of tactical awareness which was quite revealing, friend of mine is a season ticket holder at QPR and like most of them was a big fan but he did consistently point out that he failed to react to things as games progresed.

Hughes nothing special (although sometimes get the impression he thinks he is) but would imagine he would be a decent fit, should keep them up if this money is spent, will need to start well though as their run in is horrible.

I can see why the owner got an itchy trigger finger, but I don't think you can deny Warnock had done well for them up to this point, bearing in mind where they were when he took over.

It's funny how replacing a lot of the players that got you promoted with better ones is standard practice but replacing the manager that got you promoted with a better one always evokes a sense of injustice.

Two home defeats in a row for Citeh then.

Thought Glen Johnson was really lucky not to have been sent off for that horrible lunge at the end there. It's nice to see Mancini losing his cool on the touchline, we could really do with a Citeh implosion.

 Get out of it.

Was so nervous! We'll never get a better chance to beat Citeh, glad we took it (just).

I didn't say I don't agree with the decision though. I probably do, though I don't think Hughes is much of an improvement.

I just think a lot of people's dislike of him causes them to overlook the fact that Warnock did actually do a reasonable job.

I can't see how the Kompany tackle is a red and Johnson's isn't.

For me, neither are even fouls, but football is getting itself into a mess in terms of what is and isn't allowed.
