fmd I'd be delighted with two wickets if I were bowling such atrocious pies.

I hope the Heat go winless this tournament now then have a cleanout before next year and start over.

Not watching tonight, however looks like the Heat are heading towards another loss.

I notice that Cooper has the gloves, how has he looked?

Cooper wasn't great. Clanged a couple standing back too.

Team did look better balanced though. Not sure if it's a good move when you are to have so many spinners, especially.

Anyone listen to Kerry O'Keefe on ABC Grandstand today saying he is heavily concerned with the way the spinners are bowling in the Big Bash.

Said the best spinners in the Big Bash are the oldies, Warne, MacGill and Hogg, as they aren't bowling "rollers" and just trying to york the batsman.

He mentioned a few who he said he was concerned about, but I particularly remember him mentionin Smith and Doherty.

The thing is that they are also the biggest spinners of the ball. If you can't spin the ball past the bat, and we're playing on very good cricket wickets in the main, then your options are limited.

I mean, Xavier Doherty can try and spin the ball as hard as he wants to, but it'll probably spin just as far as his slider does. Ditto Michael Beer.

EDIT: the thing for Smith is that with MacGill coming in, he has to try and play the "tighter spinner" role, and try and bowl fuller and hold down the dots while MacGill shoots for wickets. See it with Warne/Hussey, Doherty/Krezja and Hogg/Beer.

Yeah O'keefe's pretty much on the money. But it's pretty hard to do a Nathan Lyon and walk in and just throw it up. And even harder when the captain opens with you....

Not a bad cricket day. On the couch all day watching Clarke and Ponting, now at the MCG for Stars v Perth. Loving the holidays from work. Attended all games held in Melbourne for the BBL.

53 out of 1714 posts in this thread contain references to Yates or Yatesy; so that's about 3%. Honestly expected a lot more when I decided to do the research.

Yeah the other guy he mentioned was Aaron O'Brien. I don't completely agree with KoK, nothing wrong with containment in T20, just as long as they can vary their style across the formats.

Lol Warne is uncanny. I've seen very little of the Big Bash, but watched him call McCullum out the other day & just flicked the TV on to catch him doing the same to Gibbs. True magician.
