Tomorrow could be a very important day in Australian cricket's resurgence. This is an emerging team and batting has been their major weakness in recent series. If they can bat the opposition out of the contest tomorrow and go 2-0 subsequently, it's a huge step in the right direction. Zaheer Khan, at this moment, looks to be the only one genuinely capable of upsetting that design.

Even though the hosts are up against one of the friendlier bowling attacks of world cricket, the fact that Pattinson and co. have dominated this Indian batting line-up (thus far) ought to be encouraging news. In my view, the average Aussie fan on CW is slightly more pessimistic than the fan from outside, but to the objective eye this team looks in good shape. By and large, the basics haven't been all that bad since Hussey and Harris helped 'em win that first test in Galle.

On the telecast they mentioned Ponting has the most centuries at the SCG of any Australian. They emphasized Australian in the comment, so I'm assuming Sachin has the most? If Ponting tons up tomorrow will he overtake?

No, he has the most overall, at 5. Wally Hammond the overseas player with the most at 4 (in 5 Tests, bloody hell)

To be honest though the failings from the new batters remain, and it doesn't bode well for Australia when the likes of Ponting and Hussey have to bail out their teammates like they did in the last test, in a few years that experience isn't gonna be there and then Aus will have to find a solution, and quick,

The bowlers have obviously done very well though and your bowling unit is certainly heading in the right direction, Lyon needs some wickets though because he looked terrible in the last test and as we all know not every pitch is good for pacers.

Don't mind saying this 18 months early, it's going to be a cracking fast bowling shoot out in England in 2013 if both sides have close to a full compliment of quicks at their disposal.

Pattinson and Cummins are awesome. The Indian batting's out of form (and Sachin's wicket was a freebie ) but Pattinson looks good to continue performing the way he has. Will be awesome to see the new Aussie and English quicks go head to head next Ashes.

The Indian fast bowling though, only injuries or mediocrity. Hopefully Yadav stays fit, and gets some wickets tomorrow!

Clarke was absolutely sublime today. Was a pleasure to watch live.

Sachin teased but never got going. As Kerry O'Keefe said on Grandstand, Sachin is at his best when he's got rhythm and whilst he hit 8 boundaries in between that he was frustrated by tight bowling and wickets on the other end.

I still think he shuld be very disappointed with his last 2 dismissals this series when set. Shouldn't be going out like that.
