Should India lose ICC test ranking points for refusing to play Pakistan?

So what was all that crap about in the WC, with Gilani and Dr Singh.
I did mention context.

I don't pretend to understand completely the stance of the government, but there does seem to be some consistency in that they seem to be okay with facing off at multinational events, but not bilateral series'.

I think the underlying situation is way too serious for the rating points to matter.

Both governments are doing the world a favour anyway; the only things that benefit from a Pakistan-India series are the coffers of the boards and the batting averages of the batsmen.

Pak-India series is one of the most intense and enjoyable test series. Right up there with the Ashes.

Well, neither England or India are scheduled to host Bangladesh in the FTP, which runs until April 2020, and Australia still owe Bangladesh 2 Tests from 2008 - they played a 3 match ODI series in August, which was when Symonds' fishing trip happened.
Yeah, but we hosted them only last year and then in 2005 before that. How come India have gotten away with it when (let's be honest here) it was mainly at their behest Bangladesh were invited to the top table anyways.

& Ten years between series still seems too often.

For the same reason the ECB will get away with it for the next 9 years.

Neither board wants to host Bangladesh because they're crap for the bottom line.

It should be.

Sadly the last few series have seen too many Tests where batsmen have just filled their boots on utter roads and there's been absolutely no chance of a result.

India are petrified of facing a resurgent and focused Pakistan team, whilst their own team is declining, they couldn't possibly risk losing face.

both countries do decent amount of economic trade recently Pakistan has given the status of MFN to India which should boost trade further. the two countries officials have frequent political dialogues, in other sports both play each other bilaterally so its rather strange its only cricket that suffers .

can imagine Sehwag quaking in his boots at the mere thought of Sohail Tanvver charging(trundling) at him.

TBF, whatever else they lack as a team, India has self-belief in spades. Went into the summer tour of England full of expectation and, well, we all know how that ended up.
