Yep, said it before. Waiting on Ponting to regain his form of yore is like putting you pay packet through the pokies. There's always an outside chance you'll win the jackpot, but it's much more likely your kids are going hungry again this week.
Anyone who could average more than 35 (and actually make the occasional century) would be an improvement, because that's all Ponting is anymore as a batsmen.

North actually wouldn't be far off being of more value to the team as a batsman atm. Despite his ****ty overall record, he actually still had an excellent conversion rate (something like a century about every 6 innings, from memory). When he was playing he actually won us/saved us a few games because of his occasional big scores. Ponting hasn't won us many games for a long time. In any case, though, we shouldn't have to stoop to the depths of North. I'd much prefer someone like Khawaja in for Ponting, because, even though in the short term he might not be any better, at least you aren't wasting valuable time; you're allowing him to develop as a player etc.
Well as far as I'm concerned, if you aren't making consistent 50's, which Ponting hasn't been, then you have to be making the occasional big score to compensate. If you aren't doing that, then you simply aren't making enough runs. At least Watson has been making 50's pretty consistently (up until his very recent drop in form, that is).
