I suppose his first innings efforts could be put down to nerves. One spell doesn't maketh the man but if he can produce that sort of bowling consistently Australia have a dangerous strike bowler to rival Steyn.
Oooooookay, lets not go crazy. First of all, you need a stronger emphasis on that "if". Secondly, lets keep in mind who he's doing this against.

It's certainly good bowling though.

Yeah Pattinson has been impressive, but just put things into perspective guys. Bowling with the new ball at the Gabba against batsman who are trying to get out. Even Siddle is getting movement FFS.

So to all the Copeland fans, do you still think the new selectors were wrong for picking this XI?

Or should the attack have been Pattinson, Copeland and Siddle?
Isn't that what the majority of us were picking?

Nicholas "oh, has he edged that?"

Replay shows a gap large enough to fly a plane between bat and ball. Moron.

Yeah it's understandable to be nervous on debut for sure. I only saw the highlights on the first two days, so I'm not going to say that he was definitely rubbish, because I didn't see his entire spells.

I don't know about Steyn though, I'm trying to work out which bowler he reminds me of..

Just put some money on New Zealand to make 200. Banking on Jesse to see off the new ball and then Danny to get us through.

I can't believe I ate the whole thing
There would have to be a miracle to happen for us to win this Test. The best we can hope for is that Ryder, Vettori and Brownlie grind out some runs and show that they know the word application. Anything less will be just rolling over and insulting.

He's always had this sort of stuff in him, but he just hasn't been consistent. Very surprised he's worked it out so quick, but pleasantly so. We still have Hazelwood yet to get a go who will be a superstar. Then of course Cummins and other very handy guys. We might not be fielding the best pace attack in the world by the next Ashes, but we won't be far off.

Over-reaction much?

Not Terrible
God and if Ryder does score runs how he plays a Test innings they'll say he has played a different game because of the position NZ are in. He isn't a slogger FFS.

Definitely Copes over Starc. The must have a lefty fetish is silly.

No chance brah, what's the odds on us being bowled out below 100 does it say ?

A great spell is a great spell. Poor bowlers can produce the goods now and again but given his age and what he's displayed there's a lot to work with and a lot of potential.

If he were 28+ I'd be more skeptical.
