Amazing over though. Three plays and misses, one of which is almost-bowled and three wickets.

This is bringing back memories of when Shoiab ran through us in 2003/04, and Tuffey was left at the non-strikers end as a procession of wickets fell at the other end.

Yeah I didn't see the fuss until his spell last night, his one over today is just icing on the cake.
I suppose his first innings efforts could be put down to nerves. One spell doesn't maketh the man but if he can produce that sort of bowling consistently Australia have a dangerous strike bowler to rival Steyn.

Get back from the pub hoping to spend the night watching NZ pile on the runs :(

Great to see any young bowler making an impression though.

He's always had this sort of stuff in him, but he just hasn't been consistent. Very surprised he's worked it out so quick, but pleasantly so. We still have Hazelwood yet to get a go who will be a superstar. Then of course Cummins and other very handy guys. We might not be fielding the best pace attack in the world by the next Ashes, but we won't be far off.

Is it me or is "That's the way he plays" the most annoying cricketing cliche? Used to excuse any and every piece of twatty play lately.

Pretty sure a Chinese cut isn't Ryder's usual MO either, Smithy.

So to all the Copeland fans, do you still think the new selectors were wrong for picking this XI?

Or should the attack have been Pattinson, Copeland and Siddle?
