Ishant and Umesh will have to be heroes for India down under, as both have decent pace and bounce, and are the more productive bowlers. As lead spinner, Ashwin should pick himself, but the lack of run-scoring bowlers in this side is frightening- 324/6 can quickly become 338 all out. Loads of overs from Rohit Sharma and Sehwag are expected.

A reminder about how this news was released:

Praveen Kumar To Miss Australia Tests - This Morning
Similar to Zaheer Khan in England. 'yeah, he'll be fit to bowl in the 2nd innings. Did I say 2nd innings? Silly me, I meant 2nd Test. I meant 3rd Test. Actually what I meant to say was that he's injured for 3 months.

Ya and I hoped that bcci would learn from mistakes they committed during England tour

To be fair on those pitches even they will fancy batting against the Indian popgun attack.
They'll still lose a Test by collapsing in a heap to some no-name, crap Indian bowler who'll be elevated to superstar status on the back of it for a couple of years before people realise he's crap. Agarkar did it in Adelaide in 2003 and Irfan Pathan and RP Singh did in at Perth on the last tour.

Didn't you make that post already?

Also Agarkar was a star well before Adelaide

Losing PK is a huge blow for India if Zaheer doesn't play. They can get away without him if (and it is a big if) Zaheer is fit and plays the full series but without him and with Ishant carrying an injury you just wonder if they will get smashed to all parts. They have the good fortune that the Aussies are as weak in batting as they have been for more than 20 years but looking at both line ups it is difficult to see where 20 wickets will come from.

Australia probably have more potential to get 20 with Cummins and possibly Harris if fit but if you were a batsman on either side you should be licking your lips as neither attack is anywhere near as strong as it has been on the last couple of series between the two in Australia.

This

Oz should win 3-1 as long as we have a bowler with a heart-beat

Oh wait

don't think Aus has the bowling to bowl india out 6 times in 8 innings.1-1 is a firm favourite imo.

I dont know how many times you will post the same thing,
and for your information, Agarkar has 288 wickets in 191 ODIs and he didn't do well in the longer formats, but he wasn't 'crap'.

Irfan Pathan has 6 fifties, 1 hundred(in 40 innings) and
100 wickets in 29 tests,
and 152 wickets in 102 ODIs along with the 5 fifties,
not the best but atleast these stats are decent enough.
Using the term 'crap' for them is just something ridiculous.

In Australia, India vs Australia we will See a good match and i guess India will win the series and make history again to test ranking in No.1 and India have a lots of expriance play in Australia. So the most candidate of winner is India.

Firstly, While I agree with you that Agarkar was an underrated and fantastic ODI bowler, In this context, ODI abilities are completely irrelevant in knowing how good a test cricketer is. Same applies to Pathan.

Secondly, Irfan Pathan does have 100 test wickets in 29 matches @ 32.26. However that includes 39 wickets in 4 games @ 11.5 against Zimbabwe and B'desh. Excluding that in his 25 remaining matches, i.e., about 90% of his test career, He has 61 wickets @ 45.5.

How well Agarkar and Pathan have done in ODIs isn't relevant in the slightest to my point.

Watching people call Irfan crap is so painful considering how promising his start was. The in-swinger to the right hander that made Miandad eat his own words was a joy to behold. A great story of what could have been if not for the stupid attempts at trying to bat in the top order with a batting line-up like India and listening to too much advice.

He'll be back, I am sure of it!

Really excited for this series. The bowling has potential to be good but can also let down really badly. I am not sure how confident the batsmen are considering it has been some time since Sehwag and Gambhir really fired and Sachin still in the quest for his 100th ton. I would have so loved to see him play the current ODI series and get the 100th ton done with before this massive tour.
