By 1 Test. Compton scored more than 50% of his runs in that era. I'm calling shenanigans if we consider him a player of the next era.
He won his league championship medal and FA Cup medal in 48 and 50 so looked at in the round this definitely is his era

I'm afraid that by the letter of the law, Ankit is correct - but I will concede that Hutton and Compton ending up in different eras is evidence that I've messed up the boundaries a bit.

I'm not changing my pick. Compton scoring more of his runs in this era should matter more than the fact he misses the 50% cutoff by 1 Test. It's a ridiculous objection.

It is however the rule that would've lead to people before you not selecting Compton.

I let go of Compton after actually having counted Compton's matches from his match list and finding out that he had played less than 50% of his matches till 1950
