Auckland are playing 5 bowlers plus de Grandhomme again, but this week don't even have Hopkins to bolster the middle order. Luckily for them Timmy Mac is scoring runs. Admittedly Adams will contribute more with the bat than Chris Martin did but still, Wellington will fancy themselves as soon as Auckland are 4-down.. Also Parlane in for Kitchen.

Surely Auckland should drop one of Bruce Martin or Bhupinder Singh....
Adams was only supposed to play FC cricket this season if he was desperately needed, so they must be pretty keen on the whole five specialist bowlers and an allrounder thing to play him.

Sounds like a quality knock from Van Wyk - 90* in a team score of 229-7.

how many did crowe make yesterday
Two in first innings, unsure in second. Cornwall got made to follow on to 202 (follow-on is 100 behind). They got 250 odd for 7 second dig but he didn't get over 30.

Maybe Milne is that extra seamer they're thinking about taking to Australia, that can be added after this round of the PS or the Aus A game (I forget).

Ps. De Grandhomme is a lord. Told you all.

Yeah I suspect they're withholding the last spot in the hopes a Milne, Wheeler etc goes nuts and smashes a team.

I'm already surprised at the restraint shown with Milne by the selectors. The opportunity to hurl 150kph and Ponting's throat isn't one I thought they could resist.

Temptation to fight fire with fire in terms of Cummins now as well, I would suggest? Maybe they want him to come through fit in one more FC match then see where he's at.
Certainly NZ selectors at times tend to imitate Australian selectors, which can be annoying. Eg. a few years ago the line was that Australia would debut a lot of players in their late 20s/early 30s rather than going for younger guys, and therefore we should follow suit. Similarly now there will be a temptation to debut a teenage 140+ km/h bowler and hope it pays off.

Rain and delays at all three matches today. I guess though we've been lucky that 6 out of 6 matches so far have been not rain affected.

The lack of cricket being played today is upsetting. :(

Why are all these games at Lincoln, anyway? It's a nice day in the upper North Island today. If the Auckland game was being played here...

Otago vs. ND is in Dunners TBF.

BJ Watling 107*

And I remember in the squad announcement the selectors said Bates was on their radar - well, his figures today are 5-4-1-2.

Watling may have deserved a lot of the criticism he received, but it is still good to see a fringe batsman go back to domestic cricket and score a hundred against one of the best attacks in the country.

I noticed Wright mentioned Bates in that article too... He is one player I wouldn't mind seeing in ODIs first.

Edit: lolled at Adams smashing 79 from 54 balls. Guess I'll retract some of the negative things I said about Auckland's middle and lower order
