The top order collapse was shameful. In the end we only needed a couple of 20s or 30s out of them. Very dire. Losing Warner for nothing hurt us.

Anyone know when Jaques is due back? We need him.
he was gonna play this match but his mother died. should be back next match to cover for maddinson/smith. henry to replace the other. katich's hearing is supposed to be coming up soon too. if we lose him i dunno know. field sam robson as an overseas player?

Good to see the Gabba offering something for the spinners in Shield cricket this season.

Boyce coming along nicely, and SoK - 4 for 66 and 82*

Not worthy of a place for Aust A though lol

International Vice-Captain
Luke Butterworth closer to bringing his season average with the ball to below 20 again.

Never expected him to become such a crucial Shield bowler when in the mid 00's he was predominantly an ODD specialist.

Wonder if any of the Test players will play. Bit tight, but they will have had 3 days. Not likely, but Hughes, Haddin and Copes might feel the need.

Smith is obviously an option, as is Henry, but not ones that inspire confidence. If Dougie is injured and Copes doesn't play we really are ****ed.

Any truth to rumours Cutting has gained a yard or ten of pace since his success in 09/10? I recall him looking very sound back then but being around 132kph, saw a story this morning claiming he's bowling at over 150 now.

I reckon claims of him bowling 150 consistently are wildly exaggerated but he's definitely a bit quicker than 132.

I don't mind the side, in all honesty. You can't pick Maxwell as a bat coming in at 7 for Victoria, and after such a short time. If you can't do the business in the top 4 (maybe 5) in state cricket, you've got to be scoring massively below that to compensate. We're not looking for specialist 7s.

Bailey ends up being the easy selection as captain, IMO, and gets a little bit of leeway for his batting figures playing at Bellerieve over the past few years.

SOK's omission is not the disaster that some here portray it as, Beer was on the tour to South Africa, and has been pretty decent in the figures that I've seen for WA this year, hasn't really put a foot wrong.

How the hell have NSW only managed 2 points out of a possible 12 against SA? Seriously how rubbish are they?

First time we picked a terrible attack. Abbott and Haze playing his first competitive match for a year, inc grade. and then the batting sucked arse (a common theme) 2nd match it was the rain. We lost about a day in the end because of that

Not sure the point of picking Bailey and Cowan, and Cooper is in purely on runs in one game. He has just about the worst technique I've seen for a top 6 domestic batsman, all over the shop.
Bailey gets picked for his captaincy - He has scored 2 tons this year also. Cowan seems a popular choice these days, most likely due to his journalism! He really needed that century in the current match against SA, but it really wasn't against a top attack like QLD or something.

I think Klinger is unlucky to not get a game - perhaps on the wrong side of 30..

Cutting easily MotM here. Another great game from QLD.
Exactly, superb effort mainly from our bowlers. Good on Townsend for sticking around in both innings. I would describe him as a limited player with not much going for him, but good to see that he spent time at the crease.

Qld beats NSW 2nd XI. Qld considers this a mighty win.

****s.
It was an awesome win against one of the bottom teams.

Boyce going nicely strike rate of 33.8, 0.1 behind Cutting to go with his average of 18.09. Hopefully he keeps it going.
Yeah hopefully. What a man. So exciting that we've gone away from the Dan Doran/Chris Simpson rubbish.

I wonder who will be 12th man? I think each of the quicks have a case for inclusion in the XI - Cutting, Hilfenhaus and Starc have all had a good performers at the GABBA previously, not sure if Pattinson has, but he's probably the first quick picked.

Only SA to go now to get a clean sweep of the first half of the season. Still, Adelaide Oval is probably the ground which least suits QLDs strengths. Would be good to see Lynn back in the runs, hopefully he can bring up a big ton down there.
