While I definitely think that (as usual) the criticism of the Australian bowlers in general has been a little over the top, I don't think that has really been the problem in the session. Neither attacking too much or defending too much will see you bowl a leg stump half-volley; that's just crap bowling. And that's what's been happening.
Yeah for sure and I can't see how the addition of any other bowler to the attack would change that, tbh. It's flattened out into a decent deck so, whilst the Aussies got the worst of the conditions, for that reason fans will need to adjust their expectations a bit.

I've said it before but I reckon that's a lot of the problem with Johnson. He's swung the ball for one series in his entire career and ever since then he's moved heaven and earth to try and replicate it, forgetting the fact that he was quite a good bowler before that when he just bowled - for lack of a better description - really fast off-cutters. His natural undercut and scrambled seam (somewhat oddly) moves the ball away from the right handers consistently and before everyone got inside his head telling him he had to swing the ball back to be dangerous he regularly got good batsmen out just by bowling hostile stuff on off stump that moved away with his unorthodox angle and undercut. South Africa's tour of Australia before the famous return trip saw IMO Johnson's "best" bowling from a what-he-should-be-aiming-for perspective.
Na I reckon unless it's a particularly bouncy pitch where he can also bowl super aggressively at the batsmen, the Johnson you're describing most often wouldn't cut it (recently in Sri Lanka is a good example, he bowled fairly tighly yet really didn't have much of an impact). He has been pretty much worked out when he just bowls like that these days. Unless he gets some late swing and actually works out how he is doing it (so unlikely!), his position in the team should really start to be challenged imo.

Am I the only person who thinks Australia has a good attack?

They got pasted in the Ashes true, but even then there were some good performances.

Compared to NZ? Yeh :p.

Seriously though, too inconsistent and haven't stepped up enough in trying times.

It's all my fault. I've more or less forced everyone into my line of thinking that we can't play Siddle and MJ in the same attack.

Harris/Dougeh/Siddle or MJ/Lyon or Hauritz is good. But both Siddle and MJ out there usually makes me fear the worst.

Nah, Australia does have a good attack by world standards; there's no doubting that. It's just not as good as it's been at any other point I've been following cricket, and even further back than that. It's not what fans have come to expect, even of non-Warne/McGrath bowlers. Whether that just makes fans spoilt or this lot a bunch of underachieving failures is of course up to interpretation. :p
