Same applies for Grace surely?Gonna say no. Bradman is banned because he's the only one to be basically an auto-win for whoever gets him, and there'd be no strategy to getting him. I want to include as many players as possible, because this is a draft about cricketing history.
Brilliant suggestion IMHO.Fred Spofforth is an easy choice.
BTW, I have another suggestion. When we reverse the order of draft from one round to another, probably we should shift from one era to another, so that the last participant in the first round has a similar advantage as the first participant in the first round.
Great idea...BTW, I have another suggestion. When we reverse the order of draft from one round to another, probably we should shift from one era to another, so that the last participant in the first round has a similar advantage as the first participant in the first round.
Nah, disagree with this. As per that logic you could wind up being 1st in the Bradman era twice for example. You end up with more top players from a certain era and less from another and I think that somewhat defeats the purpose of a generation draft. If you're first in one era, you also have to be last in that same era imo. It makes it more even. Just leave it the way it is, its fine like this.Great idea...
But it should be designed such that all eras are not visited within the first 6 rounds, for example - so that the draft remains interesting throughout.
I'll suggest this:
Round 1: Grace era, Round 2: Rhodes era,
Round 3: Rhodes era, Round 4: Grace era,
Round 5: Bradman era, Round 6: Sobers era,
Round 7: Sobers era, Round 8: Bradman era,
Round 9: Imran era, Round 10: Tendulkar era,
Round 11: Tendulkar era, Round 12: Imran era.
Ranjitsinhji for my first selection
They have to have played the majority of their Tests in the timespan, i.e. more than 50%.What's the rule by the way? The player should have played at least a test in the time span, right?
Should be eligible for neither timespan IMO, as per this post:Well if such a player needs to be picked we'll talk about it when the time comes. It'll be either that the player is ineligible, or eligible for both time spans. Which of those options I will decide on will depend entirely on how much I like the person that's trying to pick.
