Butt/Amir/Asif - Spot Fixing Trial

Amir got the worst deal out of the lot. Feltham Young Offender's institution is full of racist chavs. In fact a Pakistani got his head bashed in by one a few years ago. It also has a high suicide rate.

Lucky for him John Terry is too old to be joining him.

My utter contempt for this motley bunch wanted me to see revenge. But really, now I think the punishment should have been a sporting one alone.

Let's hope Amir can make a comeback and not become a serial cheat like Asif.

Really wish Majeed had got longer.

Anyone feel we're one tiny step towards addressing the real problem? Thought not...

Have to admit that my opinion is swayed a bit by this post. Should be enough that they are banned from cricket and heavy fines are imposed. Used to think that an example should have been made of these guys, but not anymore. Jail time is some serious **** and brands a person as a criminal for the rest of their lives. Also I dislike seeing their families suffer like this over their loved ones.
Don't do the crime if you can't do the time. No sympathy. Got what they deserved. feel for the families they let down though through their own stupidity.

Steve Harmison must be thanking his lucky stars that there's so much video evidence of his inability to bowl the ball on a good length or he would surely be looking at 10 years for the opening ball of the 2006/07 Ashes.

Didn't know you were an ex-con Burgey. Please share some of your experiences with us. But bear in mind that we don't want to know about sore butts

I've not served time, but I've visited plenty of people in prison and know a few people who've been.

It ain't no country club :)

Well if you ignore the length of the sentencing, Butt and Asif will be in a prison which houses a lot of British Pakistanis, so they will probably feel at home :p

Amir on the other hand will be in a place where he could be seriously hurt.

From another site -

And the evidence is stacking up against Mitchell Johnson as well. On dozens of occasions in the last Ashes, people were recorded accurately predicting whether he would bowl to the left or bowl to the right. A sophisticated and subtle form of sign language was then used to communicate this information to accomplices at the local bookies.
A third prediction was also made, but nobody could get odds on it.
Immense.

Surprised at some of the public sentiment from what i saw on Geo Super seems like the punishment wasn't enough....

And also a lot of people saying none of them should ever come back in the Pak team...

Is it true that Amir wouldn't be able to come to England ever again after this case?

Faisal, I think after the guilty verdict, I don't think anyone of them should play cricket ever again. It will be quite embarrassing for Pakistan if we allow it. In fact the UK and other cricketing nations probably won't even grant them visas to enter, so it would be pointless.
