Price deserved that wicket. He's been getting some good turn out of the foot marks.

Good effort on debut by Brownlie.

Wow, Martin kept out an in swinging yorker (albeit a gentle paced one).

Time for Young to swing the bat.

EDIT: The Phantom strikes.

Six NZ batsmen made 39 or more, but only one reached triple figures. Not good enough.

What's the record for the most number of maiden overs in a row?

Edit: Google reveals

Rameshchandra Gangaram 'Bapu' Nadkarni of India holds the record for bowling most consecutive maiden overs in test cricket.

In the 3rd day of test match against England at Madras he bowled 21 consecutive maiden overs in a row in a 114 minute bowling sspell. He finished with the figures of 32 overs, 27 maidens, 5 runs and no wicket in that match.iAtone stage he had the figures of 29 overs,26 maidens, 3 runs no wicket. He was mostly bowling against Brian Bolus and Ken
Barrington.

Long way to go Doug

Has Pews recovered yet after jizzing over the fact Sibanda is 53 not out overnight?

Seriously though, Zim will fancy their chances of saving the game. Looks a very flat track that will be tough to get wickets in a burst on.

Could be quite fun if Zimbabwe can scrape 350+, all results still possible.

From the Cricinfo commentary it seemed like Zimbabwe were lucky to be only 1 down. Given the slow rate of scoring I'm still expecting a fairly straight-forward 250-300ao, declaration chase from NZ and see whether Zimbabwe can survive.

Should have done way better than this. Seriously disappointed with Kaney and Rosco, hopefully will do better in the 2nd innings.

Zim to get rolled over for 300.

Young batting for the draw, it seems.

BraceFAIL.
Fairly tough on a guy who hasn't played a lot of cricket lately (Young).

Fair play to Zimbabwe, bowled a hell of a lot better and batted similarly. Draw a reasonable bet, given it's one of those pitches if you don't want to get out, you'll struggle to do so..yet it's slow and tough to score at a good rate on, plus the outfield is hardly lightning.

Agree, after a couple of promising internationals to start with, Watling has looked out of his depth.
Yeah, watching him bat last night for example you'd probably never guess he was an opening batsmen. He just has such poor footwork and basically bats on the crease, never really coming forward or back when he needs too, he's the definition of a front foot prodder and someone who has probably grown up playing on artificial pitches.

In saying that however I still feel he's New Zealand best option to back up Guptill and McCullum at this stage.
