SL will have batsmen of some substance. If Sanga, MJ, Sam and Dilshan retire tomorrow SL do have batsmen who could step up in couple of seasons.

Paranavithana, Thrimanne and Warnapura are potential openers
Chandimal, Kaushal Silva, Mathews, Banuka Rajapakshe and Kandambi are middle order players to chose from
PJ could do a lot of keeping, but Silva and Chandimal are keepers too.

There are few guys who could do a job, but selecturds have never given them a chance.

CW fans are so dire now.

Most international sides over the last 15 years apart from the super human Australian side and super woeful Bangla side have bumped up and down the ranking table just because one team is not having a good series it does not suddenly mean they are getting to minnows level.International cricket goes in cycles.

while teams went up and down in the period aus dominated, there was never a phase when so many teams were **** at the same time.

what's going on? i suppose it puts the dismissals of the top and middle order in the right perspective.

Nah, didn't you get the memo?

Any team that loses is either a minnow or not trying. Any side that wins can't win away from home / can't win at home (delete as appropriate), and if all else fails, it's important to point out that any good sides aren't as good as the best side you've ever seen.

The crucial thing to remember is that no-one ever achieves anything in cricket.

Not Terrible
The dropping Piranha talk is silly IMO, still plenty of room in Tests for an opener like him. That said Dilshan opening with him would probably give the team a far better balance, where someone can smash the shine off the ball and someone can anchor the innings. Players like Sanggakara and Jayawardene shouldn't be effected by Piranha at the other end, they should be better than that.
