Mirror, mirror on the wall, who's the most hideous of them all

Amla's always seemed pretty easy on the eyes to me (as well as most others I'm sure). Where are you coming from with that?

Was actually thinking about this while watching the 5th India-England ODI earlier. MS Dhoni's batting technique makes the blobfish look seriously attractive. Absolutely hate it.

Amla's one of those guys that I don't particularly enjoy watching, but I enjoy a highlights package of. Love it when he just gets himself balanced and throws his hands through the ball, whipping his wrists.

Chanders' technique probably is ugly, but it's too quirky and too good to be unpleasant to watch.

Collingwood looks like he bats with a shovel, and an ugly shovel at that. But it's sort of a cobbled together technique that kind of admirably represents who he is as a cricketer and I like him for it.

The worst techniques are those who bat brutishly and effectively even though you know they're capable of playing a good looking orthodox game. And do it for hours. Graeme Smith bats like he is trying to murder the very concept of aesthetics.

And if I weren't English, and did have a track record of defending him to the hilt, I'd probably say the same about Alastair Cook.

Always enjoyed watching Chanderpaul bat, because it seemed like he did it all in one fluid exaggerated movement. It was almost flamboyantly ugly, if you get my drift.

G. Smith looks ungainly to me but it's effective, same with Cook and Collingwood.

It's a tough one because I've always had a soft spot for 'ugly' batsmen. Who among us can say they look a million dollars at the crease?

International Vice-Captain
Phil Hughes.

Fantastic talent, however has the footwork of a Geelong Cricket Association C grader.

VVS Laxman, overall he looks ugly on crease, Tall/fat/sloth/annoying voice/weird balaclava/huge protruding ***, yes I know he plays awesome shots. He's tolerable in highlights package where he hits 90% of attempted shots to boundary. Weird people rate him so high.
