Mirror, mirror on the wall, who's the most hideous of them all

VVS Laxman, overall he looks ugly on crease, Tall/fat/sloth/annoying voice/weird balaclava/huge protruding ***, yes I know he plays awesome shots. He's tolerable in highlights package where he hits 90% of attempted shots to boundary. Weird people rate him so high.
This is bad and you should feel bad.

Haha indeed. I could watch Laxman bat for a week.

And sadly at times, I have when he's played against us.

Paul Nobes. His style reminds me of those douchebag baseballers who claim cricket is easy because of the big bat who then proceed to swing at absolutely everything in a net and use the fact they middled a couple (usually in the air, mind) as evidence for why.

give yourself an uppercut!

pardon my presumption, but what i think many like about his batting style (as gleaned from discussions with friends over some of speyside's finest) is the way the bat, held high up the handle, almost seems to be an extension of his long arms, especially when he cuts. coupled with the fact that he generally hits the ball on the lower part of the bat (perhaps his bat seems to have a lower sweet spot or perhaps his timing and balance is so good that he gets the sweet spot on the ball most often..), it almost seems like he casually points the ball to boundary with his strokes.

It's smith for me by a country mile.
Chanderpaul plays nice shots and ends up in a decent position.
Collingwood is fine and is not an eyesore.

The only person who I cringe with is Smith. His backfoot or non backfoot play is just mind blowingly bad. It should have prevented him from being selected.

I could go on about him - but feel I have gotten most of this off my chest now.

Good thread.

Of the ones I've seen live, Matthew Bell takes the cake.

Seen quite a few highlights of Jack Russell's batting and that was a terrible sight indeed.

I admire his determination with the bat, however Daniel Vettori does not play aesthetically pleasing cricket. He doesn't mind guiding a ball or two behind square.
