So err where was the spirit of cricket diatribe when old chimpy was standing his ground for that catch?
Yawn. It's pretty well known that Ponting used to approach his opposite number before series to agree on taking the fielder's word for catches, yet he was very rarely taken up on it. So when the opposing team has flat out said they're not going to accept the fielder's word, why should Ponting have to?

Without wishing to reopen old wounds, I'd hazard a guess that Kumble bitterly regrets he took up the offer too.

The pitch maps they are showing of Morkel are seriously impressive. I remember when he always used to follow a jaffa with a a couple of 4 balls.
