*Official* England in India

I don't think KP can have too many complaints if he left out of the XI, he has been well below his own high standard for a couple of years in this format. I don't think he will be left out and I do think he'll have an excellent series, but it is about time. His brand of off-spin may be good for a few bonus overs too.

I've said many times before how I'm a big fan of Bell. and find his record in this format as puzzling as KP's for the last couple of years. One century from 103 innings simply is not good enough, and defies the talent he possesses. He must bat in the top three, four at a push, but those players currently occupying the spots are probably more deserving of late.

If he plays instead of Bairstow, or someone with equally positive intent, then I would also have certain reservations aswell about playing Cook, Trott and Bell in the top 5/6.

Must admit I don't know too much about the standard of the oppo, but Bluey jr really couldn't have done much more to advance his case so far, could he? Match winning knock and MOTM on debut and now a ton at close to a 200 SR.

Boy's definitely a talent.

All our young batsmen should be made to keep wicket too; it's clearly having a galvanising effect.

Yes there at times when you may not pay too much attention to performances in these games, in terms of changing the XI that you had in mind for Friday, but if Bairstow wasn't in the planned XI, then messrs Flower and Strauss may need a serious re-think. To not only make an unbeaten hundred, but to do it in 53 balls is a fantastic effort. Borthwick's performance too, it's very encouraging for the years ahead.

Bairstow should definitely play. Don't know about Borthwick though, for all we know his wickets could've come from late order slogging.

I think Bell is a better player than Pieterson in general, but I'm not sure I'd want Cook/Trott in there with him. Kp should be there instead tbh, and he likely will be no matter what his record says.

It'll be interesting to see who will play in the Indian team for these matches. Even England will have to be careful of who they choose. I am hoping for an interesting contest between both teams!

It seems Bell, has had an upset tum, better now, but a fairly good excuse to "rest" him I guess.

Yes it gives them the chance to leave Bell out for the first ODI, I'm sure he'll get his chance at some point, but it appears the other guys are going to get first chance to impress.

Like the shallow, needy wench I am I come bearing nothing but a links to my own smut and innuendo about non-mandatory DRS and web sauce: (edited) I would also like to predict a 4-1 Indian win based around England's inability to ever remember a new ODI dawn has broken any time they reach the subcontinent. I don't care how limp the Indian attack is, we will inevitably nurdle and put on our inhibiting girdle. Well, I hope not, but we've been here so often. Maybe it will all be different with Bairstow.
