Meaker was on a hattrick but missed out, sounds like he knocked the tail over with 3 in a over.Borthwick on 5-14 in his 7th over. No problems from his end. No success for Meaker, though. Doubt either will play in the starting XI but I wouldn't mind Borthwick for Patel.
"Hyderabad Cricket Association XI require another 286 runs with 4 wickets and 26.0 overs remaining", so I'd say England are favourites from here.
Based on 5 wickets against a pathetic team?Borthwick on 5-14 in his 7th over, so no problems from his end. No success for Meaker, though. Doubt either will play in the starting XI but I wouldn't mind Borthwick for Patel.
Well Patel isn't a bowler, so yes.Based on 5 wickets against a pathetic team?
No, based on that from what I've seen of him, he appears to be a decent bowler. My point about his five-for today was that "getting through his overs" wasn't a problem as Dave implied.Based on 5 wickets against a pathetic team?
Don't quite see why KP gets in, I'd have Bell for him, and Woakes for Samit. Agree about Dirtbag, we'll have to see lot's more of him I'm afraid until the novelty wears off.So what will be the line up for the first game? Surely Bairstow has done enough to get a gig ahead of Bell.
Cook
Kiesswetter
Trott
Pietersen
Bopara
Bairstow
Patel
Bresnan
Swann
Finn
Dernbach
Woakes unlucky, but I don't think we really need his batting in this line up and the selectors have a hard on for Dernbach. He should get a game or two anyway and so will Borthwick.

No.
I agree that KP has been ****house in the last 2 years and isn't being picked on merit; where we're disagreeing is that Ian Bell has done absolutely nothing since his recall to the side last season to merit his continued inclusion either.Okay, rather than carry on this witty discussion, I will state that Bell did play some innings that weren't total **** in the recent series, which puts him ahead of KP IMHO, who has done nowt in the warm-ups to warrant his recall, other then just being KP.
I'd play Buttler or Hales over either of them probably, but the selectors are unlikely to do that.
Sorry, but I never will understand that argument, I guess I'm a bit dense, the guy doesn't seem very good at it. at the moment, in fact two years or so, so I'd drop him.Add that to the fact that there's no legitimate reason to de dropping KP from only ODIs anyway. If you do that you're saying he's either technically unsuited to the format, not good enough to be playing international cricket, or in dire form and needing some nets. None of which are true.
With Bell there's a genuine if debatable argument that he's just unsuited to ODIs, so it's much more reasonable to leave him out.
