Round 5 is hell. Gilchrist will stand out even there, I feel.

..feel bad for Lindwall, not only the first great fast bowler after the War but also a great human being. He never bowled a bouncer to a tailender, and when he saw young Davidson do so he scolded Davidson for playing an unfair game! He came back after a career-threatening injury to have one last go. All great fast bowlers who came after him and saw him live (Trueman, Hall, Lillee) drew inspiration from him.

And yeah, I shall choose Worrell over even Wasim in round 6. He was to West Indian cricket what Imran was to Pakistani cricket. Plus he was probably the most helpful human being. He would always be the first person to donate blood to opponent batsmen after they are hospitalized as a result of a bouncer from a fast bowler from his own team...

Spot on - champion bowler and champion bloke, shame he got such a nightmare draw.

Probably time to call 6 and 7 though, we've got pretty clear winners in both.

Very harsh on Polly & Lindwall, both champion cricketers and crashingly good chaps to boot, but have to with Gilly & Flower.

Worrell & Ponsford in the second. Lot of time for the latter's quiet dignity in the face of adversity.

Dravid and Bond in the third.

Rahul must be a good bet to take the whole thing out. To emerge from the wreckage of the recently concluded Indian tour of these parts with his rep enhanced is a measure of the man.
