He is, however, a better batsmen than Marshall, and that is what is needed considering either Akram and Warne would have to bat no.8 if Marshall plays, which I consider to be one spot too high for them.

Lara is also a left-hander and was renowned for playing spin.

I loved Armstrong for picking Pollock in the first XI. He makes it to my first world XI too. Think he deserves to get in more such XIs than he does. Absolutely exquisite stroke maker. It was disappointing that he didn't make it to even second XI by cricinfo
