i can make a better xi than this using players not selected in both cricinfo and icc XIs.

trumper
greenidge
ponting
headley
hammond
miller
imran (c)
hadlee
healy (wk)
murali
oreilly
Gordon Greenidge/Barry Richards
Herbert Sutcliffe
George Headley
Graeme Pollock
Greg Chappell/Walter Hammond
Jacques Kallis
Imran Khan/Keith Miller
Alan Knott
Richard Hadlee
Alan Donald/ Michael Holding
Muttiah Muralitharan/ Bill O'Reilly

Great batsmen, even better slip cordon, great mix of swing, accuratcy and agression from the bowlers and great reserves. Can challenge any other team

If it weren't for Bradman, it'd be better than the ICC's. Openers suffer a little compared to cricinfo's though.

Now Ankit's team is one helluva team. It will probably beat the crap out of the ICC XI as well as Bagapath's

Comparing my and Bagapath's team:

Trueman > Miller and Barnes > O'Reilly by small margins. Other 3 bowlers are common

Bagapath has more batting depth due to Miller's presence

Pollock > Ponting IMO by a small margin

My openers > Bagapath's. Don't think Trumper and Greenidge are ATG level batsmen (though Trumper is highly romanticised)

So overall, my team wins

I think Gary Sobers, Imran Khan and Richard hadlee should be allowed to be picked as specialist batsman or bowler as well as allrounder.
An average of 99.94 Bradman performance should be considered equal to two all time great middle order batsman. Bradman in his own eleven only picked 5 batsman.
I will pick Sobers as specialist batsman and Imran Khan as allrounder.

My team will be

Jack Hobbs
Len Hutton
Bradman(C)
Tendulkar
Sobers
Gilchrist
Imran Khan(VC)
Marshall
Glen Macgrath
Shane Warne
Muralidaran

I have picked Macgrath over Lillee, because he did everything(Average, Strike rate, Bowling on flat pitches, Succes against great batsman of his time) better to him without wasting too much energy.
,

Aside from my own obviously, this is my fav. team from forum. Great mix. Only weakness is fairly weak 3rd slip/slip depth. Only proven slip catchers are Sobers and Warne

might as a well post a team using players who debuted after tendulkar but have already retired.

best xi of the tendulkar era

hayden
langer
m.waugh
lara
inzamam
gilchrist (wk) (c)
flintoff
warne
murali
mcgrath
donald

hang on

State Vice-Captain
McGrath protests against the above post.
akram chosen for variety and ambrose preferred to mcgrath. wouldn't mind if mcgrath took either of the two places. and also seriously considered pollock who is a very underrated player in these kinds of discussions.
