Reminds me of our 2nd innings display at Perth...That was ridiculously easy. Pathetic gutless display from India. They let their millions of fans down today with that batting performance. Huge problems going to the next match though as they have 3 of the top 6 unable to play short bowling and the 2 men who may well come in are currently injured so there is no guarantee they will do any better.
As for England, we steamroller on to yet another unbeaten series and does anyone expect India to stop us becoming number 1 in the next few weeks as the gulf in class between the sides has been massive so far.
Next summer. Sadly it's only a 3 Test series due to dumb scheduling.Spineless batting performance from India in losing 10 wickets over two sessions. Outside of a few passages of play, the series has been largely one-sided, with one team trying to play catch-up. England fully deserve to knock India off the top spot.
When are the saffers due next in England ? Looking forward to another nail-biting series between the two now that this series hasn't exactly lived up to its billing thus far.
Tbf, without them we would've been 130ao first up and God knows how big a lead India might've been able to build."Did you lose it that first day evening?"
"Probably, those 100 runs really hurt us."
Take those 100 runs it would have been close...
The problem is we struggle to fit in additional series in our season and it's a 6 Test summer due to the Olympics (IIRC) - besides, 4 Test series aren't ideal, if they could go with 5 then that's a different matter.Next summer. Sadly it's only a 3 Test series due to dumb scheduling.
What I'd love to see happen is for the ODI series to be scrapped in favour of a 4th Test and say to CSA 'we owe you an ODI series.' Won't happen though.
Yeah, just I can't see them bouncing back like we did. They look a tired team who are mentally shot.Reminds me of our 2nd innings display at Perth...
I just think it's down to how good a side England.are.Yeah, just I can't see them bouncing back like we did. They look a tired team who are mentally shot.
Maybe winning the World Cup has taken the edge off them. Remember how bad we were in Pakistan in 05 after beating Australia, eye off the ball and all that.
Wouldn't disagree there.I just think it's down to how good a side England.are.
India got whacked in the first Test v South Africa but came back strongly in part because South Africa dropped the ball in the 2nd Test. India had their chance to bounce back but England pulled things back.
On the whole - shades of Perth?
Not a bad shout, was it? Broad takes six in the first innings including a spell of 5-**** all, our form batsman makes a hundred 2nd dig and from there we controlled the match.I meant with the teams changed. Aus got to a just-about barely respectable score from the depths on day 1 thanks to a blast from Mitch, then he came back on day two to make it look like a great score.
