What about Strauss denying a runner? Spirit vs. Rules? Murali's run out vs. NZ? Spirit vs. Rules?

I'll stop posting on this topic as I'm just fuming right now but you shouldn't be the captain of a team if your goal isn't helping your team win with every single decision you make.
Did he deny Dravid a runner?

Now: The world loves Dhoni, India hates him
Says who? India will love him for this. I hope the implication was not that India fans don't like seeing game being played in good spirit because this would be most inappropriate occasion to imply that.

Another update, reportedly from Jonathan Aggers on TMS: Strauss and Flower went to the Indian dressing room at tea and asked Dhoni if he would withdraw the appeal. And Dhoni consented. The umpires did not have a part to play in it.
Well done Dhoni. He gifted this series tough!!

I would hope the people around me, in my team and so forth, would be putting the game above a good result for our team. Perhaps we're on different wave lengths here, but I play cricket to have fun first of all, and not to cause conflict between the two teams. For the same reason when I'm asked to umpire in our games, I don't start giving off dud decisions to help my team win. Sure a park game and a Test are just so far apart, but I like to think no matter the level people play because they love the game, not because they only love winning
This, so much.

Meanwhile, there is a match going on, and in case anyone has noticed Morgan is racing towards 50.

This is just patently untrue. He didn't start to run the 4th and it's laughable that anyone should try to suggest that he did. He touched his bat down then slowly jogged off towards Morgan to head off to tea together. If he'd been trying to run he'd have been, er, running, and shouting at Morgan to get a move on.

Honestly, some really dire posting here today
It's really unclear if he was running for the 4th run or not.He did jog & it looked like he is going to the pavillion for a cup of tea.But halfway on the pitch he looked towards the boundary & it looked like that at that point point he realised it's a boundary & he needn't run.But he was actually going to the pavillion,as we thought earlier.
Do you get me?? It's really confusing.

Hasn't Strauss recalled a batsman before? Seem to remember an ODI incident against Sri Lanka, can't remember what happened exactly. Anyone?

Meanwhile, back in the cricket, India look half dead. Must be dispiriting.

TBH, when i started looking at the replays, felt the same way as if he was jogging for a fourth and in the middle Morgan just stopped him. Maybe he wasn't. But just felt so.

This game is a goner as far as India is concerned. No way are they scoring these many in the fourth innings.

Healy's Law applies for runners.

I think the vast majority of people are biased in relation to seeing their team do well tbh

Anyway its a fantastic gesture from Dhoni and hopefully some of the stupid mudslinging and bad feeling on this forum in particular can **** off now

Anyway rather under the radar but thats a good 50 for Morgan, yeah the bowling has been flagging but its the sort of innings England want from him.
