God I wish people would stop bringing up the Colly captained England v NZ incident. There's no comparison whatsoever. On that occasion there was a very real chance of a run out and then the collision happened because the Kiwi batsman got in the path of the fielder coming in and the run out became a certainty. Whatever you think of that there's no similarity at all.

OMFG what was that all about? Captains now review stuff? A pretty confused fan here
The Indian commentators did disappoint me I must say.

That might have been very sportsmanlike and loved by CWers but Bell started running the fourth. He was out.
This is just patently untrue. He didn't start to run the 4th and it's laughable that anyone should try to suggest that he did. He touched his bat down then slowly jogged off towards Morgan to head off to tea together. If he'd been trying to run he'd have been, er, running, and shouting at Morgan to get a move on.

Honestly, some really dire posting here today

And he was out fairly and squarely, nothing underhand or tricked...nothing more that the "spirit of the game" can ask for I would've thought.

Wonder how much Fletcher may have had with the change of mind during tea?

Be an interesting press conference after close of play anyway.

What about Strauss denying a runner? Spirit vs. Rules? Murali's run out vs. NZ? Spirit vs. Rules?

I'll stop posting on this topic as I'm just fuming right now but you shouldn't be the captain of a team if your goal isn't helping your team win with every single decision you make.

Wish I could believe that tbh. But IMO if you hadn't, you should have some serious questions asked about your captaincy.
I would hope the people around me, in my team and so forth, would be putting the game above a good result for our team. Perhaps we're on different wave lengths here, but I play cricket to have fun first of all, and not to cause conflict between the two teams. For the same reason when I'm asked to umpire in our games, I don't start giving off dud decisions to help my team win. Sure a park game and a Test are just so far apart, but I like to think no matter the level people play because they love the game, not because they only love winning

That sort of thinking is what leads to under-arm bowling etc. Has no place in cricket either.

Bell was clearly not attempting a run and its the right decision to not claim the wicket. I'm sure India did this with their own self interest at heart too. Imagine the **** storm after the match if they had let it stand.

I don't know what you saw. He did start running and then walked after 3 or so steps. Pure laziness. Watch it again if you must.

Win at all costs. What a magnificent outlook.
