*Official* Second Test at Trent Bridge

Norwood's on Fire
The first seven days of this series have been amazing. This really does have an Ashes 05 feeling to it.

England weren't lucky; they just so happened to be playing against a team whose board refused to do everything in their power to ensure correct decisions were made. Nothing lucky about it; just poor management from India.
Funny thing is neither of the calls he's talking about would have been overturned on review.

Anyway, enough from me. Should be in the Umpiring thread.

so I decided to go out at about 4.30 the match was clearly slipping away from us, just thought it would be India milking our bowling. Not my best decision it seems.

In all fairness none of the LBWs LJMJ refers to would've been reversed by Hawkeye.

Even though he explicitly says otherwise? Awesome post from him then. :p
I think to give him the benefit of the doubt he was saying that on another day with lady luck not shining so happily upon the Motherland the umpire on the field would have given them out. Either that or he's a tit.

Interesting. No way will Flower change the game-plan because of injuries to individuals. Broad's and Prior's runs make it a possible option. The form of Cook and Morgan make it high risk.

The trouble is that England have their next in line batsman playing and he has yet to prove himself.

Tricky one.

edit - sorry, misunderstood the question. Been a long day with a very tense finish to out match. The game-plan point still stands though.

The first hour or so of batting looked fairly easy compared to what it has been. Dravid when interviewed, said the morning session was the best of conditions today, then it got a little bit more tricky.
It looks like the roller, flattens the pitch and takes a lot of the juice out of it early on and then as the day goes on, it starts to get more life in it.
It's going to be key for the two who are in, to see the morning out and at the very least, erase this deficit. It's hard to judge what will be a good lead but if England get 350 second dig it will be brilliant, hard to see with Trott's problems but defo doable.

Taking 20 wickets hasn't been a prob so far, tbf so would prefer a batsman if the Irishman got the arse.
Agree, I also can't see Morgan getting dropped after the last 3 innings, tbf to him he's had a couple of good deliveries at him. Could really do with a decent knock this innings mind, to put a few doubts to bed.

What a great days play. Standout performances were Broad with ball and Dravid with bat- honourable mentions also to Bresnan with ball, Laxman and Yuvraj with bat. Bresnan's ball to get rid of Laxman was a cracker and he has generally bowled pretty well I think. Swann getting tonked was not a good sign, but we all have off days- though his average this summer vs lower order is markedly superior to top and middle order it must be said. I remember Dilshan hitting at least one six off him at Lords ion the 2nd day I think it was. We're still well in it- had the India lead passed 100+ then I'd have been particularly worried, but positive thinking- this track won't get any easier and if we can set 200-250 we are well in the game.

he's clearly past it now... he's been piss poor since the day that old holy guy* died
