What do people think of Mukund? I'm following this through cricinfo and can't watch, but I know he has his fans on here. Not having a great first tour of England so far.

Goes very hard at the ball from what I've seen. Has a tendancy to reach for it too. He might get away with it on more batting friendly decks, but when there's a little movement he'll struggle until he develops softer hands.

He has good attitude, does Mukund but needs to improve on everything else.. I wish I am wrong, but he seems to be another Dinesh Karthik in the making. Seems to have all the right attributes yet just can't get it together at the highest level consistently enough...

The prevailing view when Vijay was picked to make his debut as opener was that it was his Tamil Nadu partner Mukund who should have been selected instead. He was seen to hold greater promise.

Thanks for the info. Hm, pretty common in FC batsmen who have just stepped up to test level. No doubt when Sehwag and Gambhir return he'll go back to domestic cricket and hopefully refine his batting.

Murali Vijay played for Central Districts once. Makes him a gun.

he'd benefit immensely from a county season or 2, so many young Indian players would, ipl may give some the international exposure required to get a stint.

Mukund is still a work in progress. Has straightaway been thrown into the deep end into 2 tours which haven't been great batting oppurtunities and a pretty good attack here and has played 3 decent innings so far. Will turn out to be a good bet in the long run.
