*Official* Second Test at Trent Bridge

Good news that Bresnan will have a chance. Daft to risk aggravating injuries when we have these fast bowling reserves - and best save Tremlett for the Oval.

Wonder exactly what damage was inflkicted on Gambhir. May be a mish-mash of bruising and damage to muscle, soft tissue, ligaments etc. Did the India camp actually rule out any fracture, even a hairline one?

One of England's biggest opponents today will be their own state of mind. Have they bought into any of the hyperbole and feel like they can play like millionaires? or will they keep their steely determination and focus?

Might not be as important a toss as we were expecting. Sun's out and the pundits on Indian TV all reckon it's actually a bat-first pitch.

India were never going to bat first with Gambhir out.

Interesting that Strauss said he would have bowled first too.

Yeah, it's not exactly a crucial toss. Wouldn't want to bat first but wouldn't want to bat last either. Average rpw in the 4th innings here is 21.

Dhoni wins the toss and bowls.
No surprise he is bowling. With makeshift openers you could easily be 30-3 or so after an hour if the ball nips around.

Hammer blow to lose Gambhir for India on top of Zaheer and Sehwag.

For us our batting which was good last game is strengthened and i still think we have a far superior attack. Bring it on.

Sounded like a defensive move to bowl first. Obvious that Dhoni believes the batsmen are gonna get damaged more if they had batted first. The question is does India have enough quality bowlers to make use of the conditions.

Though losing Gambhir is indeed a blow, I strongly disagree with Dravid being referred to as a makeshift opener (though he obviously is one, giving the defenition of the word makeshift). With Laxman and SDT in at 3 & 4, 30-3 after an hour would really be extraordinary, even with inspired English bowling in helpful conditions.

Michael Vaughan is a right thicko. About as insightful as that other TMS prat, Tufnell.

Must say it is hard to listen to TMS for this series. When the aforementioned Vaughan isn't on air, you got Sunil who = zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz, Blowers, who is so old that when he was in pomp Indians were more commonly referred to as western oriental gentleman and Aggers, who should spend less time being a perv and more time recording some new commentary lines for International Cricket Captain.
