Anyway, has it been confirmed anywhere that Tremlett will miss out? Strauss seems to think he's fine:

"I think he's fine, obviously he's had a bit of a niggle with his hamstring," he said. "He's just getting a massage and will be coming out for a bit of a bowl later.

"At the moment we expect him to be fit for tomorrow but obviously like all these things we'll see in the morning. We're confident he should be okay."

Yeah AWTA. Fast bowling depth is one of England's strengths; there's no reason to play a half-fit bowler unless it's Swann.

I hope you don't think I'm ignoring you hear Spark as I have no intention of getting into a debate about this with Cevno, just wanted to clear this up. centurymaker's posts were bizarre - he actually said Anderson wasn't that good in the Ashes because he wasn't superfast and didn't swing it miles. That's bizarro logic.

facepalm- (i was comparing him to steyn- was speaking in relative terms!!) we all know he did well.
spark brought up the idea that anderson's bowling was of a higher quality in comparison to steyn which it clearly wasn't.
From memory he had two good spells in the first 4 tests I watched. First one came in Adelaide first innings and the 2nd one was in melbourne 1st nnings.

2nd dig at Sydney was some of the best swing bowling i've ever seen.

So who should India go for?

Sree or Munaf given the photos which have been circulating of Sree.

I would go for Sreesanth as he is a attacking swing bowler and could be effective at TrentBridge, but interesting choice if he really is unfit.

Yeah, but you quantified your opinion by saying, "he didn't bowl that fast, and didn't swing it that much" as if those two points somehow mean he didn't bowl as well as Steyn did.

He bowled excellently pretty much through the whole series, save maybe Perth when he'd just flown halfway round the world, but obviously you know better than everyone else who watched it.

His stats weren't good at Brisbane, but his bowling bloody was.

that = comparing him to steyn. just picking out a sentence like above will surely put it out of context...

Yeah, but it's still irrelevant. The fact that Anderson didn't swing it too much was one of the things that made him so brilliant.

Steyn's performance over there was special btw. But you came up with pissweak logic for why it was better. There's plenty of decent arguments that could be made either way, but you didn't make one

Aggers just tweeted that Finn has been called up as cover. I presume this means Tremlett is out and they are covering in case one of the others picks up an injury in the morning.
