Decent point TBH. A restricting bowler such as Bresnan would be useful to allow the others to take wickets. I wouldn't call them wicket taking bowlers though. They bowl fairly consistently. It's more people like Finn and Johnson that serve **** and then find a ripper spell/ball.
Right but I don't see England needing that as their 4th bowling option. Lord's 2nd dig a case in point. Pressure, pressure, pressure, asphyxiate the opposition. Make every single run count.

does he bowl too many full deliviers or short ones that go for runs?

if the latter then he'll get away with it against indian batsmen who are short and dont really pull
Bowls too much wide rubbish.

Bresnan nipping it around off stump at a lively pace is a far better pick.

What's interesting is that you've attempted to rubbish Anderson's success last summer based on our opposition. Guess who Finn's done best against thus far?

It would be absolutely daft to pick anyone but Bresnan. He is not a defensive option, he would walk into most teams at the moment.

Finn is a raw talent but goes against everything this team prepares for. We're all about pressure, Finn leaks runs for fun.

he took 24 wickets in 5 tests, while steyn took 18 in 3 tests.

so how is anderson's performance best since amberson 1992??

8-)

oh yeah, because he did it in the ASHES

picking another bowler who doesn't add anything different is being pretty defensive.

basically he's there to contain ...
 Ever watched him bowl? What state is cricket in when someone who bowls above 80mph, on a tidy line and length, with a bit of movement, is derided as defensive?

It's what Test Cricket is all about.

Bresnan hits the top of off stump regularly and has a good seam position, capable of getting movement in the air and off the pitch. Bowls at a lively pace.

I really don't see what's wrong with him. He's a different kind of bowler to Anderson and Broad anyway.

Go argue with StatsGuru. You won't find any visiting quicks who took as many Australian wickets as cheaply as Anderson did. Steyn included.

As odd as it sounds, Anderson bowled better than his figures in the Ashes. Some of his best spells took hardly any wickets.

Damn! :(
Would be interesting whether they pick Sree or Munaf.

Sree the more attacking bowler, while Munaf is the container.
