Favourite cricket moments not involving India would probably be Warne's bowling in Ashes '93, Lara's 153* and Gilchrist's knock in the WC '07 final.

(Though seriously 3-0 vs. Aus in the CH)
that 3-0 win over australia was priceless, particularly the win in the last match in which we fought back brilliantly out of nowhere after being like 50/5 chasing 340 odd. mcmillian totally decimated the bowlers!
ahhh :) what an epic chase that was! good memories.

For me, it was the WIndies two blackwashes against England....
And I was at Sabina Park for the first day of the Test series in version two.

Whatever it takes!!!
I didn't see that TBH.
I am not really sure given all that Burgey would have seen (esp. the rise from the depths of the 80s low for Aussie cricket) that Sydney 08 or the fact that India or Pak have never been them in a series at home would be the stand outs. I am pretty sure it was baiting, or at least I felt that way. Just do not see it as a real answer and usually Burgey is better than that. I can understand if it was in response to some Australia - baiting which this was not. Hence I made those comments.

Well I enjoy it when Australia win (which isn't that often these days :) )

So it is actually difficult to single out a single moment I enjoyed the most. Maybe the Ashes in 89 I should have added, as it was a bit out of nowhere at the time. I think the true lowest point was probably losing in 86-87 to an England team that was frankly pretty crap, but we were just horrible.

I wasn't singling out Indian fans tbf, I did include Pakistan in my reference to the series in Australia. I ought to have added Sri Lanka too. Was remiss of me.

This coming summer will be India's best chance to beat Australia here, ever. Maybe the series in 85-86 would be marked down as a real missed opportunity too. But with India having a good bowler to lead their attack in Zaheer, and a potent batting line up against what is at best a pretty mixed Australian attack, their chances much surely be very, very good.
Well, not gonna argue any of those points except that I just the looooong tours to Australia does seem to break our boys everytime. I think Australia are easy favorites even this time. I am not even sure if Sachin can have a God like series like he did last time.. And he is always the best bet in those conditions. Dravid has generally struggled in Australia when they have had the best bowlers playing and so on... Just think if this was your first post in this thread, I would have had no problems :) .

FMD HB. Stop acting like a victim all the time. It's tiresome. This thread was intended as a pissing contest
Yeah, because calling out people on unnecessarily baiting a certain section of posters when totally unprovoked in this thread is what victim mentality is. Saner people regard it as common sense, but whatever floats your boat.

Sydney 08 was pretty special in its own right tbf, simply because it's the kind of close-run game which we seem to be on the wrong side of most times.

Well, at the risk of flogging a dead horse (and God knows this test was discussed ad nauseum here), I think it was the events and bad decisions that made the test what it was... But we can leave that be. I can understand why people would regard it fondly, esp. the Aussies.

Sydney 08 really was a quality cricket match if you ignore the other bull**** around it.

See my response to Sparky.

On reflecton, the Sydney Test last time India toured was a fantastic highlight.

It wasn't at the time, but it became so over the ensuing few days.
3 wickets in one over was madness.

For me it would have to be Chasing down 414 in Perth and then test match coming from behind and taking the match. Also 438.

438 was an amazing match. I was in bed and at about 11 got a call from a friend who said 'we have got to get to a place showing this game Gibbs is going berserk' so we had to drive all the way into town to see the game. Place was packed and Bracken bowled brilliantly only for Boucher (& lewis ) to undo us at the end.

WC 2011 win and Kolkatta 2001 at the top of the list for me .

Others as an Indian fan would be Mohali 2010, WC wins over Pak in 96 and 2003, Adelaide 2004, Series win in Pak in 2004, Sharjah 98, Cb series win in 2007-08 , Independence Cup final vs Pak in 98, natwest final vs England in 2002 , T20 WC win in 2007

As far as neutral matches are concerned

Ashes 2005 in particular Edgaston 2005, SA chasing down 414 , 434-438 match, SL WC final win in 96, SA-Aus 99 WC SF ( though felt pretty sad for SA ) , Lara's 153*, Gilchrist 149 in WC 2007 final, Eng-Aus CB series finals in 2006-07 , steyn ( & duminy ) in MCG 2008 vs Aus, Eng-Aus Cardiff 2009, WI win over Eng in Champions Trophy final in 2004

I hear that...this is actually what I thought when I saw the thread (the first part I mean).

Unquestionably, however, 1999 at The Oval. What a series.

What are your memories of Tyson's series? One or two of us have suggested that Hutton's team in the mid-1950s was the strongest post-WW2 England XI, but we never saw them play so we're guessing to some extent. Was there much TV coverage, or did you need to be at the grounds?

Coverage on radio only here in Qld. Tyson was fast and Hutton a strong leader even though a bit "dour". As to the best English side to tour, well I will have to drag up some old memory bits to answer that successfully but i don't think so just off the top of my head
