Is he on the field? Not sure you can go straight from being off for ages to bowling.
Yep. That is what i meant that he will have to wait. I think it is half an hour in the first session?

Was just speculating in any case. Won't happen.

Strauss's first innings declaration looks shocking at the minute.
I still think it was a good aggressive declaration. You need to win by two Test matches, so it's very heartening to see him go for it. Obviously going for it means it could potentially backfire but in my opinion, you add a lot of confidence to your team when you pull it off.

It's just one bad session!

Talk about an overreaction!
Alternatively, it's being able to look beyond the scorecard after the first two innings. All that being said, kudos to Sharma of course. But that shouldn't disallow folks from taking a proper look at how England have performed to date.

It takes some serious logical fallacies to twist a 200 run first innings lead to anything other than you've outplayed the opposition fairly thoroughly, tbh.

I don't get this. Did we ever say we wanted to be number 1 by september 2011? Winning the series is the priority.

Obviously the fact that India have come back strong doesn't make it a poor decision. But when it comes to cricketing tactics I'm always inclined to give the tangibles much more weight than I do the intangibles. "Making a statement" looks like a bit of a silly aim when you're considerably increasing the chance that you'll lose the test match.

Well lunch couldn't come soon enough for England there.
Actually it came at about the right time for India too. Perhaps could have done with another couple of overs, but with both batsman on 5 there and both seamers maxed almost , Dhoni would have ran out of options.

This gives a chance to recover for one more burst after Lunch.

You can't say it was a shocking first innings declaration, because at the time it wasn't, even with hindsight I still don't think it was.

Excellent morning session for India which has given them a slight sniff of turning this game around, and Ishant and Praveen have made Zaheer's absence easier to take with the way they've bowled. If only, from India's point of view, Ishant could bowl like this on a consistent basis, but he is still only 22 years old.

England need to re-group this lunchtime and work on a plan to get themselves out of this second innings wobble. I expect Prior will launch some form of counter-attack, Gilchrist-esque, in theory.
