I don't think he would have planned on 5/67 in the second dig though.Strauss's first innings declaration looks shocking at the minute.

Yep. That is what i meant that he will have to wait. I think it is half an hour in the first session? Is he on the field? Not sure you can go straight from being off for ages to bowling.
2nd innings dismissal was worse.Strauss's first innings declaration looks shocking at the minute.
I did.Give some credit to the bowler too.
I still think it was a good aggressive declaration. You need to win by two Test matches, so it's very heartening to see him go for it. Obviously going for it means it could potentially backfire but in my opinion, you add a lot of confidence to your team when you pull it off.Strauss's first innings declaration looks shocking at the minute.
Prior will counter-attack, not sure he knows anything else to be honest. I expect Morgan to be relatively circumspect by his standards.I think Prior has to play a few shots to dispel the pressure
Alternatively, it's being able to look beyond the scorecard after the first two innings. All that being said, kudos to Sharma of course. But that shouldn't disallow folks from taking a proper look at how England have performed to date.
It's just one bad session!
Talk about an overreaction!
It takes some serious logical fallacies to twist a 200 run first innings lead to anything other than you've outplayed the opposition fairly thoroughly, tbh.Alternatively, it's being able to look beyond the scorecard after the first two innings. I don't get this. Did we ever say we wanted to be number 1 by september 2011? Winning the series is the priority.I still think it was a good aggressive declaration. They were eight down, weren't they?Strauss's first innings declaration looks shocking at the minute.
Yeah, but KP was there and hitting it like a beach ball. What would they give for an extra 30 runs now? They were eight down, weren't they?
He and Broad are very similar.Ishant can be so schizophrenic. I have seen him do this so many times - ball like complete crap for looong stretches, only to put in an unplayable spell like this out of nowhere.
Yeah exactly. If you had those sort of figures in your head you'd never declare...ever.I don't think he would have planned on 5/67 in the second dig though.
Obviously the fact that India have come back strong doesn't make it a poor decision. But when it comes to cricketing tactics I'm always inclined to give the tangibles much more weight than I do the intangibles. "Making a statement" looks like a bit of a silly aim when you're considerably increasing the chance that you'll lose the test match.I still think it was a good aggressive declaration. I had said back then KP should have been allowed to hole out rather than declareYeah, but KP was there and hitting it like a beach ball. What would they give for an extra 30 runs now?
Actually it came at about the right time for India too. Perhaps could have done with another couple of overs, but with both batsman on 5 there and both seamers maxed almost , Dhoni would have ran out of options.Well lunch couldn't come soon enough for England there.
