Well, quite. It's been like bringing a bat and ball to the park and having two people argue over fielding restrictions.I don't understand why this has to be taken so seriously.. Sure, it is a nice prize if people vote for your team but this draft esp. is based very much on luck than any real skill. For me, the fun is in going through the scorecards, seeing who the best available players who are left and at the same time balance the kind of team I would want to field (generally 5 batsmen + 1 allrounder + 1 wicket keeper + 4 bowlers).. As the saying goes, the fun is in the journey than the destination. I just hope people loosen up a bit here.. I get the feeling some are taking these drafts as some kind of dick waving competition..
For me, I select the best team I can and I look and compare it with other sides I would have selected and rate them. I don't depend on the voting to tell me exactly how good my side is when I can judge it myself.
What do you do with a third person though, do they become fielder or a keeper?Well, quite. It's been like bringing a bat and ball to the park and having two people argue over fielding restrictions.
I prefer cover with cider and flapjacks.Always play with four. Batsman, bowler, keeper, and one to pretend to field at midwicket while actually seeing how much of the wine and jaffa cakes they can get through while no-one's looking.
Cover? Much more important to have a boundary rider for the "grunting swipe" shot imo.I prefer cover with cider and flapjacks.
Hmm, if you've got enough you definitely need one on the off side for the tip and run, or the badly mistimed heave that squirts out towards backward point.Cover? Much more important to have a boundary rider for the "grunting swipe" shot imo.
Too late...LoserDudley Nourse, Niel Adcock, Peter Pollock and Hugh Tayfield - lots of South Africans picked. They were all in my consideration set
It amazes me how little cricket (if any at all) South Africa played against India, Pakistan and the West Indies in the pre-apartheid era. Screw Basil D'Oliviera, if there ever was an argument for kicking SA out of International cricket, this was it.They were all in mine. But I couldn't pick them after Hazare for obvious, depressing reasons.
