Honestly not sure why people put so much faith in these games when its quite obvious that the warm up games are really just a hit in the park. We've seen time and time again that the only players that tend to apply themselves during the warm up games are the ones that have something to prove.

England showed in Australia how playing these games properly can build momentum. All well and good treating it as a giggle by retiring out when you have 50 on the board but when you all fail it means you may as well have spent the time in the nets.

But they aren't always important. I think it makes sense to try your hardest to win them, but that's not to say you're going to fail if you don't.
