Did you think? even when Swanny was bowling, he turned the odd few but not every ball and not huge turn either.

No, just good line and length for the first. One was a crap shot from Dilshan, Sanga chopped one on, that was too close to him.

Yes he looks like a decent bowler, and another example of the recent trend towards England's selectors demonstrating that they know much better than I do who our best XI are - are they getting better or am I entering the early stages of dementia? - another theory put to me last week, rather cruelly I felt at the time, is that I have become a fanatical myopic Lancastrian and ought to **** off back to Preston and declare UDI, ............ but I don't believe that is a fair assessment.

Chandimal tried to live up to his expectation. But that hoic against Swann was uncalled for. The situation would have been much different if score line read 3-1. But he was the only one with balls to advance down to Swann. And this will be a sign of things to come. Almost all Indians will play similar or better than what Chandimal did.

Just seen the highlights of the last match, what a game.
Things to take from the series:
1) Cook > Atherton.
2) Maybe, just maybe, we have an opening partnership that works. I'm thinking it'll pay off to just go with them no matter what happens in the next series. We've almost never had a settled partnership and it's hurt us.
3) Jade Dernbach still isn't that good at cricket. He does, however, have the means to perform at the death of an innings and has the skills for one day bowling. A prospect, but a long way to go.
4) England still seem incapable of setting the pace for themselves when batting. With Colly gone we're now down to one batsman who can finish an innings properly and adjust through the gears, Morgan. And if he fails it all goes to ****. I can't for the life of me work out why Bell can't do it, he's shown excellent versatility in the tests and he doesn't have a technical weakness I can put my finger on. However, it does seem inexplicable that we refuse to pick a specialist for this role while Jos Buttler is off twiddling his thumbs.
5) Chandimal is the business. He's the ****. He's the dog's bollocks, the bees' knees and the real frigging deal.
6) Both England and Sri Lanka are very sensitive to conditions. For the record I am absolutely fine with doing well when conditions are in our favour. So while we're at it, can we not produce flat, slow decks when the Indians come over? Christ knows they wouldn't produce a greentop for us.
7) That'll be our 7th straight home series win (both formats). Oooh.

Another positive has been the performance of Jeevan Mendis. He's not been spectacular but I think he's been useful with both the bat and the ball. Still has to take it to the next level but I feel its a positive thing that he's been given the chance. Needs to find the boundry a bit more with the bat since he comes in at 7 and should find the right length to bowl his leggies.
Also Mahela has proven that opening seems to be his role. I hope they continue to give him the chance to play at the top (unlike what they did in the last ODI).
Other than that, Mathews continues to be the key man in the middle order and should probably take the captaincy in the next WC. Chandimal one for the future for sure.

One "technical" flaw I can immediately point out is that he doesn't seem to have very good control over how hard he hits the ball. Tends to, in his current form, block it or time the pants off it... straight to a fielder. Contrast to a Mussey who will hit the ball only precisely as hard as he needs to to steal one, two or three where timing it perfectly would get a dot or a single. The way he got out was a case in point.
